Well he did have a band called Rapeman and there is also a whole bunch of extremely sexist quotes and lyrics from his early days and I seem to recall there was an endorsement of heroin usage on one of the album covers etc. There was definitely deliberately controversial stuff which went with that scene at that time and I never understood our need to make people into saints posthumously. Artistic achievement should be enough for validation.

Turns out that, as well as being a massive nonce, he was also a staunch defender of trans rights.
