I'm pissed off now, so probably not fair on the players, but....

Allison is often been hailed on here as world class. Is he fuck. His basics are not good and because of that, he messes up quite regularly.

Van Dijk is arrogant, which is fine if he could be arsed to do some of the dirty work. Too often he just strolls beside attackers. It is also more clear as he is now considerably slower.

Trent isn't even trying to defend any more, so put him in midfield or on the bench.

MacAllister has his moments, but as a def mid against a top team - never in a million years. Sloppy under pressure and gets run over physically.

And Nunez... Yeah, he is cool. But he is not a top class striker. About as cool as a new brewed cup of tea.

This can be the night we lost the league.

And btw... Taylor fucked us again.

Oh do fuck off

If Bradley is back next week he starts, if he's not Gomez can start right back with Robbo on the left.

Hopefully this is a wake up call.

Trent and Gravenberch can't play in the same team, probably add Gakpo to that as well. We are supposed to be a team that plays with aggression and tempo. Lets get back to that.

It'll be painted as a disaster by the London sports media but the reality is that Nunez and Szoboszlai's injuries were a step too far for us after we've pushed the limit with these players in December and January.

We also got heavy knocks against Chelsea, and a few today, so even the fit ones like Jota and MacAllister are limping now.

Thankfully we can regroup the players back in Liverpool now for the next 13 days, only a home game v Burnley in that period, and we can give some rest to the likes of Gomez, Macca, Jones, Nunez, Jota, Van Dijk, and Konate can't play until Brentford on the 17th.

We can use Burnley to get more minutes into Robbo, Thiago, Trent, Elliott, Szoboszlai, Gravenberch and maybe Tsimikas, and we welcome back Endo and Salah.

City are our concern, Arsenal are not.

The defeat in North London earlier this season was down to catastrophic decision-making by the officials. This defeat is entirely down to catastrophic decision-making by us.

We got an undeserved reprieve at the end of the first half, thanks to Lucho's persistence, but there was barely anything of note from us in that first half. Instead, we were seeing Trent being given a chasing by Martinelli, Curtis unable to get on the ball, and Grav not at the races.

The first few minutes of the second half were brighter but then when we made the 3 subs, it allowed Arsenal to regain their ascendancy while we figured out how the changes would set us up.

What we couldn't have figured on was Ali's head being completely cabbaged in that last 30 minutes. What a fucking disaster that was between him and Virg to gift Martinelli a goal. He didn't cover himself in glory for Trossard's clincher either, and moments later put a ball upfield straight out of play under no pressure.

Darwin's head was similarly cabbaged, with the double-whammy of being utterly wasteful and utterly petulant meaning he blasted an effort high wide and handsome when he wasn't in a decent shooting position, then raging at Taylor when he didn't get a foul his way.

Ibou now misses the next game after getting a second yellow. We got to see the return of Thiago but he had no influence on proceedings as our shape and tempo had become extremely ragged by then.

Just a shit day at the office, and we have to stew over it for almost a week now.

We had what was essentially a b team out there with a makeshift right side in the 2nd hardest game of the season. I don't think we have to take much from the performance.

B team? Hardly. Trent, Ali and VVD were the biggest issues.

Attacking wise maybe, but that defensive performance was shocking. Could have been 4 or 5.

We deserved nothing from that, and it could have been worse.  We've got to find more creativity from midfield, and we've got to learn to shield the back 4 against better teams.  Trent is no good at RB against top teams.  Hopefully Bradley can be back before too long, and Gomez can retain the LB slot.  Then until Salah's back, we have to play Nunez and Diaz either side of Jota.  Endo will be back soon, and then we should play whoever the other in-form midfielders are.  The midfielders were bossed by Arsenal's for most of the game, so it's difficult to say who that is at the moment.

I didn’t think the ref was that bad. We were just shit.

And the commentary (not Neville, wasn’t sure who it was) thought it was the World Cup final

He wasn't a factor in the result, but he was well and truly sticking the knife in come the end. Blowing at 7mins exactly was the final snide manoeuvre

It was bad. Its one game. We play City at home. Not sure if I've ever despised a manager more than that cunt Arteta. I fucking despise the overreacting twat

You would honestly think they'd won the league the way that bellend was going on at the end there. What a fucking fanny he is.

I’d leave Gakpo out of the criticism even though he didn’t play well (who did?)  at least he worked, Grav and Trent don’t seem to have the fire. Trent needs to de-superstar and get it back.

That was not a performance for a leaving manager they love.

Trent needs a kick up his arse. I will keep playing Bradley when he comes back. Virgil needs several kicks up his arse too.

The beginning of the end man.

The top dogs heads have gone with the Klopp announcement. Virg stuck his size 15 in his mouth re: this as well.

Confidence is shot.

We’ve lost to a good side today. So, we didn’t really have to do our best to help them over the line.

Not the best of days for our usually super consistent players to have an off day. But, it was a collective shitting of the bed and we deserved fuck all. Injuries didn’t help us. And having to play a clearly not fit TAA.

It would’ve been great to go 8 ahead of Arsenal. And to keep a cushion between us and City. But, we’ve got most of our difficult aways done with and it’s only the start of February.

Nothing's changed for me. Let’s see where we are in March. Fuck Sky hyping it up and giving it all the this is the start of the run-in shite. It’s not. You’re in a title race if you’re top or near top in mid March. Not now.

The disappointing thing is to go from one of our best performances of the season against Chelsea only to put in a stinker in the next fixture.

The reaction will be important. This is done now. Forget about it. And make amends for it by winning the next few games.

Plenty of time for a few twists still.

Trent hasn’t been fit for about 5 years.

Figured we'd lose to them today so not really that bent up on it, they also fully deserved the win having been the better team on the day. Certainly didn't help that we were down arguably two of our best players of recent games and also our star winger for this one and realistically the difference in the game being a draw or a loss came down to a fuckup from two of our most senior players.

All in all we are still top of the league for now so its far from over, it was always going to be a tough task against a City team that historically go on an insane run second half of the seasons but all we can do is keep plugging away and hope something goes against them.

The only thing that has me slightly wound up today is having to sit in a Discord with a bunch of Arsenal and United fans, Arsenal fans have every right to celebrate but fuck me they are being insufferable with some of the 'banter', with luck both sides get a bit of a humbling over their next few games.
