The Grealish thing is being talked about as if he was about to pop it into an empty net, he was about 40 yards out and chugging like a steamer.

He's not the fastest player in the world (or he wouldn't be back on the bench watching Doku) either of the defenders chasing him scythe him down, take the red, and the match ends 3-3 anyway.

This, and the wider image showing the other players haranguing the Ref will become as 'iconic' as the iamge of the Ref Mancs doing the same to Andy D'urso (?) in the late 90's/early 00's.

ETA: He really is an ugly fucker.

Does anyone know the PGMOL guidelines on advantage? Always seems like they never want to pull it back, so I'm guessing there must be a pretty tight timeframe where they deem that acceptable. He jumped into a bad decision but, knowing this league, I'm assuming there's a structural issue leading to the bad decisions. There usually is...

Just watched motd2 from yesterday on my lunch. I’ve got a couple of thoughts on the contentious refereeing and seem like I’m alone on them listening to the commentators/pundits.

Firstly I think the Chelsea penalty was defo a penalty. Milly dived across the man and was never getting to the ball, whether he’d overrun it or not. Anywhere else on the pitch and that’s a definite foul. The VAR on that one shows him playing the man only with no chance of getting to the ball, and also his feet take out the Chelsea man’s legs - twice!

The other is the city one - genuinely think the red has made a completely honest mistake there, but I would be absolutely fuming if that had happened against us. It is a prime example as to why the refs should be able to either speak afterwards or put a statement out explaining, honestly, why they made that decision.
