If we're signing a 30 year old midfielder, why aren't we all over 29 year old Laporte for defence?

At least he's proven at this level!

Is this you volunteering to be the supporter to buy him a Rolex just for playing his fist game?

This Endo lad surely can't be 'it' for our midfield business.

I can see why we would add him, he offers us some needed depth, has reasonable experience, can cover different positions so offers some flexibility and would likely be an upgrade as a squad player on Keita, Ox and Milner.

But he surely has to be in addition to not as our 'main' signing in there over next 2 and a bit weeks....

I'm bad at this prediction stuff, but what it smells like is; this guy now and that's it, André in January to replace Thiago preemptively. Only chance at other big signing this summer is finding a big time CB that replaces Matip preemptively.

We'll see.

In isolation doesnt seem to be a bad signing as he's relatively cheap, has good stats, lot of good things being said about him & he's a DM. But on the flipside we've gone from Lavia & Caicedo to a 30yr old Stuttgart player. Quite strange. Also another non homegrown spot gone.

Not sure if this is what Klopp had in mind when he was building his second great Liverpool side.

Desperate for a quality centre back now.

I sincerely hope this isn't it - it just won't be enough IMHO.

One prediction you are deffo dead on with is "we'll see"

Well I was dead on in the end about  Caicedo that it was an unthinkable, crazy move, but we don't have to talk about that haha.

Fucking grim isn't it.

Not sure that “older than Fabinho and ever so slightly better in some metrics while being a significantly worse passer of the ball in an inferior league” is what FSG’s Sunshine Band had in mind, but now we’ll be told he’s great value in a tough market and that will be that.

Obviously the timing and context of this move make it seriously underwhelming, but it has to be said, from a quick look and a read, he does sound very much like a Klopp player. He also seems like he might tick the experience, nous, character, grit, versatility and leadership boxes, crucial for squad balance. Him alongside Doucoure and it would feel like a positive move. Him alongside a Lavia would have been decent. Him alongside Caciedo, excellent. Him on his own, yeah, good luck selling that right now, lads!

I don't know. We have to factor in the homegrown stuff too, I guess. I think it's possible one of our signings has to be homegrown. That's the variable that is tough to include.

Also the thing with Pavard is, he's the exact same profile as Gomez, who is inexplicably still here, and on a massive contract, so I can't see it. In the club's mind, Pavard is likely redundant.
