We've got 15 games between now and the end of October, we definitely need another midfielder! 

 

Of the players that have been linked Neves would be my choice. I get the feeling we'd have to pay a ridiculous amount to get him off Wolves now though.

I've been told we made an enquiry about ward-prowse last week. I don't know if anything more has come of it.

Agree. Strong, fast, good in the air, good tackler. Positioning and tactical awareness is more difficult to judge, haven’t seen enough of him to judge. Not sure about passing either, but reckon he looked good on the ball.

Fofana is comparable to Joe Gomez of 2 years ago. Probably coming up short in that tbh.

We might as well inquire about Mark Noble apart from set pieces how does he help us

I wouldn't want us to sign anyone just for their set-piece prowess, because as sure as night follows day, the PGMOL slapdicks would be even less inclined to give us free kicks.

Ozan kabak managed 9 games and allowed us to get fab back into midfield. He wasn't great, but he was better than nothing. We probably wouldn't have made top 4 without that signing.  A player who can come on and just help us hold onto a game and rest the legs of some midfielders could make all the difference this season. We're now into a period where we'd normally rotate, but have no capacity to do so anywhere really except left back. 

What he really did was prove to Klopp that anyone could play at centre back with Fab in midfield.

If the usual twitter journalists aren't tweeting by 11pm then I reckon we sign no one. No way a signing is allowed to act as a distraction 2 days before a game.

He's at least one midfielder who is a threat from set-pieces.

If football was only match of the day highlights of set pieces ward prowse would be brilliant. But it isn't, and he isn't. Crap player

Ward-Prowse makes miles more sense tactically than someone like Neves. He's less good but a better fit. Southampton aren't selling him, though.

I wonder if we see Ward-Prowse as a long term replacement for Milner?

 

He's clearly not a world beater but he's not crap either! He's somewhere in between!

 

If he were to join he'd automatically be 4th choice here after Thiago, Fabinho and Henderson.

Charlie Adam was a threat from set pieces.
