Fact he has two goals is actually a credit to him - the shite we had last season wouldnt have scored one yet in this team.

He wasn't helped by the lack of support around him. Ings tried his best but - one second half chance apart - was unable to make his efforts count for anything. Firmino looked both off the pace and like a player who wasn't sure what his manager wanted him to do.

 

It was a truly fantastic goal from him but ultimately it proved worthless, just like the team's performance.

Coutinho, Firmino, and Lallana are all rather good at quick one touch passing, decent movement and through balls into the area and Benteke can't pass and is good in the air and at finishing from where he's stood.

Benteke is an excellent premiership striker, and it seems he's capable of scoring between 0,4 and 0,5 a game on a regular basis. Not many around that can do that. And I think he's done quite well here so far.

 

He is however no solution to our main problem which remains a lack of pace and intelligent off the ball movement in the final third. Which is why we probably never should have bought him, but rather went for a different type of player. 32 million should provide some decent options.

The worrying thing for me is when Can played him in and was offside, that finish was awful, absolutely awful. He had time to pick his spot and execute, he must have hit it 6 yards wide, from a similar angle as Martials finish.

 

His goal was unbelievable, goal of the season already but that was instinct. When your at Old Trafford, you're only going to get a few chances, he, well we, need to more clinical, especially as we have zero creativity.

No. We need to add creativity and start producing chances. Cause no team and no striker in the history of football have been able to score a decent amount of goals without it.

He'd be brilliant for us if he had a strike partner. Sturridge and Benteke would score 40 goals between them if they both played every week.

 

Although that's like saying me and Kelly Brook would have great sex every day if we were a couple and there's probably more chance of that happening than A)  Rodgers playing two strikers and B ) Sturridge staying fit.
