Selling Sakho

  1. 1. Would it be a mistake to sell him?

The impasse has continued with Sakho’s team growing increasingly frustrated at how long the saga has dragged on. They have been urging UEFA to set a date so that Sakho can finally discover his fate.

The hope is that the hearing will take place early next month but they are still waiting for confirmation. When asked by the ECHO on Thursday, a UEFA spokesman would only guarantee that the hearing would take place in July.

As it stands Sakho is available for duty when he returns to Melwood for the start of pre-season training next week. However, uncertainty still rules and Liverpool face a dilemma over whether to select him in their upcoming friendly matches.

Its a fucking joke. If its taking so long for UEFA 'experts' to decide whether the substance is on the WADA banned list, how the fuck's a player supposed to figure it out?

Great point that mate. Absolute mockery isn't it?

It's not on the list and Sakho will be able to play from the start of the season.

Yesterday they were saying its still unresolved?

I'm not buying that though, it's either banned or it isn't. If there is a list it takes five minutes to check if it's on there or not. What's unresolved is how UEFA clean up the mess they have created and what compensation, if any, the player and the club are due. In celebration of the France v Ireland grudge rematch I propose we push for the FAI solution and demand to be allowed play in the Champions League as a 33rd team.

Case dropped by UEFA.

Proceedings against the Liverpool defender Mamadou Sakho over an anti-doping violation have been dismissed, the independent Uefa control, ethics and disciplinary body has announced.

The France international tested positive for a “fat burner” after Liverpool’s Europa League tie against Manchester United at Old Trafford in March, and served an initial 30-day suspension.

But that initial ban was not extended as Uefa launched an investigation into whether the substance Sakho took should even be on the banned list – and the governing body announced on Friday the case was dismissed.

A Uefa statement read: “The independent Uefa control, ethics and disciplinary Body met in Paris and has reached a decision relating to the proceedings instigated against Liverpool player Mamadou Sakho, following the Europa League round-of-16 second-leg match between Manchester United and Liverpool (1-1), played on 17 March 2016.

“The proceedings against Mr Sakho related to a violation of the Uefa anti-doping regulations after the player failed a doping test at the above-mentioned match. Following a hearing with the lawyers of the player and experts of the Wada-accredited laboratories on this case, the CEDB has decided to dismiss the case.”

UEFA cunts. Missed out on a Europa final and a Euro final held in his own country. Cunts.

WADA can get to fuck too. If they want to be this supposed beacon of all that is good in the war against drugs in sport, then they have to own up when their shit-can of a prohibited list does this to a player's career.

Great news. Himself and Lovren looked to have toned down the Clown Shoes FC routine and looked a good partnership before his ban. A decent rest for both with no Euros too.

The phrasing from UEFA and the club is odd. I wonder is there a background agreement that he won't seek to take action over the ban?

The problem is the list is constantly in flux as more clinical information becomes available.  Apparently, the substance he took belongs to a class which is unequivocally banned but that substance itself is not well understood, clinically, so is being investigated and is only on the advisory list.

Apparently, Sakho himself asked for the UEFA ban, so I doubt sueing them would work all that well.
