BBC News - Premier League TV football choice 'upheld' by EU advice Broadcasters cannot stop customers using cheaper foreign satellite TV equipment to watch Premier League football, an EU legal adviser has said. A non-binding opinion from advocate Juliane Kokott of the European Court of Justice said a block breached EU laws. Portsmouth pub landlady Karen Murphy, fined for using Greek decoders, had argued the EU single market should let her use any European provider. Sky and ESPN have the broadcast rights to Premier League football in the UK. The satellite broadcaster has pumped billions into top flight English football since the league was founded in 19…

First Goal

Interesting that Liverpool would be in a Champions League spot if looking at the table in regards to 1st goal wins the game. (table below). We have actually lost 11 points from when we had the lead! Not so long ago if Liverpool scored the 1st goal it was almost a certainty we would go and win the game, shows that Kenny has some work to do defensively this summer and not just in attack. However, appears that with Clarke he has already made a difference with 3 consecutive clean sheets most obviously by pressing the opposition 10 yards further up the pitch.

<tr…

I spoke to my uncle who works for a sporting agency company and he said Kenny has a stake in the agency company that Suarez and Torres are signed up to. I don't know if this is true but has anyone else heard anything about this and if so, did this have any effect on us going for Suarez? And which other players are signed up to this company, you never know we could go for more players from this company. This could be bollocks for all I know so I apologise in advance if I am talking out my arse here...

Having watched him play week-in week-out for the past three-and-a-half years, I think it's fair to say that Fernando Torres tends to sore goals in the following conditions: 1. At home 2. In big matches 3. When he's really up for it 4. When he's playing against slow centre halves That being the case, plus taking into account the regularity with which players score against their former clubs, I fully expect him to get a couple on Sunday. So... is it morally wrong to stick money on a Torres brace? I've never backed against us before. Do other people do it?

Am I alone in thinking that it's pretty nailed on he will have joined us come the end of the summer? It was no secret we had an interest in him throughout last month and according to some we had a £16M bid rejected yesterday as well. With our new front-line complete, I'd imagine the main target for the club now will be to find wide players who can provide that new front-line the service they'll demand, especially Carroll. We've probably got one of the best headers of the ball in the league now but yet lack a wideman capable of consistently delivering a great cross. That is something Ashley Young can certainly do, in my opinion. Come June, Young will only have 12 …

I was chatting with a mate of mine as we watched the final seconds of the transfer window pass and were inevitably pondering the future of the formerly loveably Spanish chap. We got to thinking about players that have actually gone on to better things after leaving us in the modern day era (since the 90s). The obvious example is Owen, who left to do just that and has thankfully fallen flat on his arse since at every hurdle. Even if he gets a winners medal in any comp this year it’ll be as a bit part who barely deserves mention. McManaman was the only name we could muster between us. He left to experience a massive club in a new league and did win trophies, includ…

One of my mates has dropped the ball and got his hands on a ticket for the Chelsea match before booking any transport. All coaches are booked (Barnes/SOS) and so he's up a certain creek without an instrument of propulsion. If anyone knows of a way to get down there (trains will be extortionate) or has a spare place in their car maybe, please let us know. If you want a laugh TLW lads by the way, it's Hassy. Fail.

So who is our new signing and what qualities does he have which can help us both in the short and the loing term. The one thing most people know is that he has had a great season so far in the PL scoring 11 goals in 19 games, 18 starts. So lets take a look at his stats and see if they can tell us something. 10/11: PL: 19 (18+1)matches - 11 goals - 3 assists Great return for such a young player in an average team like Newcastle, he does not take penalties either and that makes his starts even better compared to most others on top of the top scorer chart. Right foot: 6 goals Left foot: 1 goal Head: 4 goals He can score goals with both his feet an…

I'd be interested to hear what people who you know who support other teams think. I have been surprised by the response from those I know. I work with an Arsenal fan and he said it was stunning business. He questioned Torres' decision to go the Chelsea, but thought the way we responded to the situation was impressive. My mate who is a Spurs fan said he was now jealous of our front pairing. He thought the price for Carroll was too high, but said he wouldn't have been bothered if Spurs had gone and got him for that. What have you heard?

Shows we are getting on the right track commercially! I had an e-season a couple of yrs ago, thought it was pretty decent to be honest plenty of content and quite a few features. The interface was a bit slow and the video quality a bit shit but otherwise pretty decent for the money. Not sure what i paid tbh, but im sure it was around £20. Now, with Kenny in and so much going on in and around the club i thought i'd would re-invest. Direct debit, 2.99 for the first 3 months then 4.99 thereafter et etc. I have to say the improvement is massive, a really polished panel and loads of great content. Just watched the highlights of the madrid home game and the video was go…

Whatever about Suarez, Adam and Carroll strike me more as Kenny targets as opposed to players identified by Comolli. Would be interesting to know how and when the decision to go for Carroll, in particular, was made. If so, it appears to me a good sign in terms of The King's long term tenure here.

Hicks and Gillette - Bitch slapped them into financial ruin. Manager - Some may say they held on too long but they got the decision right overall. Torres - dealt with brilliantly, made their intentions clear, got the money they wanted for the player and were still calling the shots when the fee was agreed refusing to let him talk to Chelsea until they were sure of the Carrol deal. Transfers - You can argue about the quality and price of the respective players but those decisions are made by Comoli/Dalglish more than the owners. All FSG can do is support the managers decision and breaking the clubs transfer record twice in the same day as well as securing two p…
