Although I liked a few of his songs I wasn't a massive fan of Bowie's music. He was however a music legend in his own right and a decent bloke, a great loss to the music industry. RIP.

Never a huge fan but his influence on many peoples lives was undeniable and as an artist that is more meaningful than how many records you sold or how rich you are.

Listening to some of his stuff that I did like but to the lads on here who take their music quite serious I like Changes and Modern Love I am probably a heathen.

Gutted. Dad has been a huge fan of Bowie for over 40 years so I have literally grew up listening to him.

Not a fan of everything he done and can't say I like 'Blackstar' on first listen when I listened to it Friday but I love a lot of his work. 'The Next Day' was absolutely fantastic and such a brilliant comeback album. Never forget putting it on at midnight when iTunes uploaded it and then listening to it again straight after and not going to bed until 2am with work 4/5 hours later. Amazing.

Not many artists like him. The many changes, the totally different styles of songs etc... Lucky to have grown up listening to him,

Was hard informing my dad at 7am this morning that he had passed away.

Always wanted to see him live, at least just once. Knew I had no chance but I would have loved the opportunity.

Undoubted sad loss for the millions who obviously worshipped him but I have had his music on all day in the car, mainly radio 2, and I still don't get it. He undoubtably was not afraid to break the mould but I find it strange that someone so artistic and in someways alternative is being so lauded by the mainstream.

I am by no means knocking his talent and the fact I don't get it probably says more about me than his work. Maybe it was just something I never listened to in my formative years.

One journalist from the BBC said it is as if the core of the earth has been torn out.

I'm more of a fan of his album tracks rather than singles. Never been a big fan of 'Changes' and 'Starman' etc...

Just listening to Blackstar for the first time. Tis Pity She Was A Whore is fucking brilliant. In fact the whole record is ace; jazztastic with a heavy emphasis on the drums and sax.

I fucking love the fact that he was clearly into Kendrick Lamar over the last year. A near 70 year old, white, rock icon buzzing off the angry, black politics-charged sound of a twenty something rapper. How utterly fucking ace is that? Peel-esque, in fact.

I so, so hope I'm that musically open at that age (assuming I make it that far).

Right, I liked his stuff and thought he was pretty dam good apart from the Lets Dance stuff which was shit

However, I'm getting really fucked off by the wall to wall wailing and gnashing of teeth...it's fucking everywhere.

Fuck off

You only get the one David Bowie and now he's gone. How often do we lose icons like him? I would say the coverage is proportionate to his cultural importance.

There's a reason all my heroes are making the journey to The Great Gig.

I'm getting old.

You know you're getting old when Bowie loses a battle, and fails to morph into another character of his very own life opera.

An absolute musical genius. A companion to me through my life, who, sadly, took another fork in the road while I wasn't looking.

I thank you from the bottom of my heart David, for all that you gave me, and I hope I find the courage to face my own inevitable demise as you have faced yours. As a true creative expressive hero.

R.I.P.

I guess you and Mick will be jamming again now !! Now THERE was a synergy of titanic proportions.
