It's the nature of the beast with United. Sooner or later it HAS to come to an end, but they're dragging it out. They have a 20 year winning mentality, we don't... it's changing slowly, but it takes time. You have to give Fergie his due, he creates teams that just won't lie down.

Winning the league (it seems) is about beating teams you're expected to beat, and I think that's where we'll slip up the most. Stoke, Everton, Sunderland etc, who'll park the bus and get a draw, or even snatch a win on the break.

You probably do NEED a win at the weekend, but I still think a draw would be a decent result. Sadly, I'll have to listen to most of it on the radio, but looking forward to it big time.

I was talking about this the other day with a blue taxi driver who seemed very knowledgable (and is gutted we got Rodgers) and he said that he reckons your lot are overrated in general this season and while I agree with his statement to a large degree, I believe that the key to your season as he was last season is David Silva. When David Silva is at his best he just seems unplayable and he adds a completely different dimension to your side, especially against sides that "park the bus".

I think people are overlooking Arsenal and Chelsea a bit too much, Chelsea especially. I can't remember the last time a team started so well and were seemingly dismissed for the title. For me it's a 4 horse race until further notice and I'm still hoping that sly tenner I had on Arsenal (because of the daft odds and the fact they are improving but that was before they lost RVP to United of all people) pays off.

As for today's results? The treble is going to be be LIVERPOOL WIN, City draw and Newcastle win.

Rodgers talks well. Maybe, a little too well. Does all the nice gestures of chatting with the canteen staff etc... a bit too sickly sweet maybe? I don't know. The cameras are there. If he does it when the camera's aren't there, then hats off to him.

I can tell you for a fact he does as a mate of mine works for the media team at Anfield and when he first met him he was blown away by how genuine he is. He says he just commands respect by his words and actions wherever he is and that while he's a very quiet and down to earth fella, you just get the feeling you wouldn't want to be on his bad side.

I got all that off him before I'd seen anything of Rodgers really of any note off camera and I have to say that so far the lad has been spot on about him.

As for not endearing himself to the fans by showing he has a boss house, I think that COULD have been the case but it didn't play that way for me. He basically seemed to be saying that he's made up with everything he has (when he said about the car as well) but they're just "things" and it's the people in the house that he made sure mattered. The same thing goes for Gerrard who I thought came across really well and he seemed really genuine once he was home, he's either a really good actor or he was just being himself.

It's the same thinking that got us into this position in the first place. Rafa has one really terrible season, fans start turning, the cunts in charge stick the knife in. Hodgson in, he's shit as suspected so fans rightfully turn (to be honest he never had a chance unless he hit the ground running), he's out. Kenny comes in, fans calm down, has a relatively good half season. First full season goes a bit shit where the league is concerned but 2 cup finals is nothing to turn our noses up at, still some fans turn (less than with Rafa to be fair), owners get rid because he wasn't their man in the first place.

Rodgers is going to need more than one season, there would be no reason to have hired him if they weren't prepared to give him more than one season except if it looks like he's taking us down. Right now, it looks like we're going to be an average side (anywhere between 5th-7th) but not in danger of going down and could actually put in a decent challenge for 4th (i.e. - be above-average) IF the players start performing well, meaning the forwards score and the defense and Reina get their shit together. Our midfield is our strength when we don't allow teams to bypass it or bypass it ourselves. We've played some really nice football for good portions of this season but have been let down by defensive/goalkeeping errors and poor finishing.

I havent turned on Rodgers. I'm walking hypotheticals here.

They hired Kenny but gave him one season, if Rdgers doesn't improve on that will they think it's ok? It's up to the manger to get the best out of the players and top 6 is the least we should expect.

I was looking on youtube for football documentaries and came across this one. It is a very interesting portrayal of football in the early 90's, just before Sky came in. It's like a spoof in many parts, Paul Calf would not be out of place. Compared to Being Liverpool it makes an amusing contrast.

Some good bits are John Gorman rationally explaining that the reason he hit a player was because he wasn't entitled to an opinion, and the physio going off on one about his sick wife and how he hates his job, and respects players that play through injuries. Beyond Parody. Well worth a watch if you haven't.

Just finished watching that. I enjoyed it as entertainment, much of it in a scipt so cliché and mumbo jumbo ridden it sags under the weight. Kenny is not mentioned apart from obliquely in the need for change. This is unfolding as an appointment promo for Rodger’s . The downside is it is steadfastly anodyne, the upside is the humour in avoiding anything contentious and making the inconsequential seem consequential. Rodger’s team talks are priceless.

A pipe band and an LFC march to the ground? I’ve marched to the ground from Leeds central with an escort, but we just got coppers and dogs.

“Professor Brendan Rodgers? “(Three years managerial experience is an undergraduate course)

“Hands on philosophy a change from the past” – an overt Kenny dig.

“It hasn’t been easy for him- learning everyone’s names is not easy” Carra!!!!!

Raheem psyching out Rodgers, Rodgers having none of it.

Gerrard superb

A charity sequence- warms the heartstrings.

Good to see Spearing up for it.

“Do your best, work hard and the consequence of that will be a win” –it was a draw “Well done” ?

“It’s always good to get a result” – err, there is a result from every game Brendan.

The standard of female groupie is woefully low.

Andy Carroll has difficulty hitting a baseball- nothing new there.

“Hundreds of Liverpool fans are waiting their club (sic) the only way they know how- without any mercy on their surroundings”?

JW to the players “So you guys know who I am?” !

Daniel Craig meets big Andy- perhaps 007 could offer some shooting training?

Brendan’s team talks are already the stuff of legend “Just a quick message, the road that we are on is a good road- at the moment. And our work continues here this evening. Stick together, get your work in, and the consequences of that will be a good result.” in the last team talk it guaranteed victory, things seem to be going backwards in Brendan’s plan! We lose.

No mention of DiBenedetto, no mention of the FSG/Roma link.

"Leiva is brought on “to spark the offence” ? WTF! (isn’t that Luis’ job!)

Victories, draws and defeats are not the only outcomes on the road. You go away together, you return home as one ! ( who wrote this?)

Next time: “The transfer window heats up.....................................with the resigning of Suarez!”

Ian Ayre “it’s the biggest signing !”

I can’t wait to see the slick skills of Ayre in action next week in the transfer market, as promised.

Harmless stuff, enough to keep the faithful happay and amused, and with no particular ammunition for our detractors.Gerrard is the big winner so far.

I really enjoy the interaction between the manager and the players on the training field and in the dressing room, its great.

The one on one stuff with players is also good. Its just the filler stuff that makes me cringe and while I dont know that Dave Kirby fella personally and hes probably a great fella,I dont think his monologues are worth anything to the programme personally.

The Sterling ticking off was nothing more than you see in park football,I reckon it would be a lot different off camera though.

Just watched the second episode, and like the first one it wasn't bad. The most cringeworthy moment was definitely John Henry greeting the players in the dressing room at Fenway. The "So you guys know who I am?" line followed by a chuckle was really embarrassing. It also reminded me of Cody Ross trying to engage in conversation with Charlie Adam, who clearly wished he was somewhere else.

Don't really like that Dave Kirby for some reason not a clue why. He seems a sound guy he is like one of them people you have meet and are convinced are a bit of a knob.

Is he the professional scouser guy? Playing up to some image as a characature, "am ded workin class, I drink beer and that and work then watch football, it's like a religion, did I mention the class system? Football is all we have, I work in the docks or something, look at my beer, I drink that, did I mention I am working class? Like a religion...." Shut up nob ed

Liked Daniel Craig's sly comment to Carroll, as he said he was jet lagged, and Craig said thats what you are blaming it on.

Gerrard comes across well, makes a great point that youth can push regulars out the team (only 2 months on, so accurate), and how all fans now know so much about our youngsters unlike when he broke through.

Adam doesn't look bothered even when speaking to Henry. - I can't get this, Henry's money brought him here, to play for Liverpool, earning thousands yet cant stand and talk to him?

Would have preferred to see more behind the scenes action from real games rather than the American tour and more action from training rather than seeing the player's homes and families. I'm not really interested in that side of things.

It's ok but as the summer was pretty uneventful it's not riveting viewing - particularly for the target audience in America.

Charlie comes across as a right ignorant bastard. I was embarrassed for him when that baseball guy was trying to make small talk with him last week.
