Cracking game to watch. It was much more even in the first half and Madrid looked very dangerous on the counter attack. Barca took charge in the second half though, and some of the football was just sublime. They could and should have won by more than 2-1.

 

Barca's front 3 were excellent with their movement and interplay. Neymar played well but took the wrong option too often, and was wasteful in front of goal. He reminded me of Sterling at Old Trafford back in December. Madrid in contrast struggled to link up bar their brilliantly worked goal. Ronaldo flitted in and out, Benzema was game throughout but Bale was totally peripheral.

 

There was still plenty of shithouse behaviour as players tried to get each other into trouble, but there was much more football on show than there often has been between these two in recent years. Pepe getting hauled off before he got himself sent off was not a shock especially as with Carvajal and Ramos booked, so they needed somebody to take one for the team without getting sent off.
