50,000....????

They will need a massive away end to get that many people in every matchday

We bought a new house down there 20 years ago and Peel were promising a mini city build back then. Heard the new apartments in the old tobacco warehouse aren’t selling nor getting the expected interest so can’t see them pumping money in while people are losing their jobs to build apartment blocks next to a footy ground that’s only going there to block the view of the sewage farm.

Who wants to spend big money on a flat only to have 50,000 people pissing in your doorway every other week. There’ll be chaos down there trying to get in and out on a match day.

Once the commonwealth games were lost they should have binned it and went to Gillmoss. However, they’ve backed themselves into a corner now and will probably build it and fuck themselves up for generations.

Peel have talked for many years of building a "mini canary wharf" down there. It's something like that the city needs, because it will bring high value jobs. All chippy tits is arsed about are city centre hospitality jobs for the tourist industry. We've got to be more ambitious than that. There will be incentives for people to embark on these types of projects throughout the country, if we don't do it, someone else will. Housing in that area for me should just be a by-product of investment that brings jobs, that makes the housing both stable in value and sustainable for a long period.

This shit house of a goverment are also committed to bring some of those London jobs to the regions, they won't care who gets the jobs as long as their donors and mates get paid. The ambition for Liverpool waters needs to match that of Liverpool One and it would bring better income jobs.

Well, there's your problem!

In fairness to Peel, they have also  produced some lovely Artist's Impressions of Liverpool Waters and Wirral Waters over the last 25 years or so.

They are the perfect people to work with Everton on this "stadium".

You're dead right. Lots of people do drawings with no intention of going further. But this is my point to be honest. I assume peel are sitting on this land with a view of doing something with it at some point. It just needs the economic conditions to be right and perhaps a visionary mayor running the city. The likely aid around the corner for infrastructure projects could make the economic conditions right. As for chippy tits.........

Peel release drawings every couple of years. First ones looked like Chicago in IRobot with skyscrapers everywhere. Then they slowly get watered down to look like Cheshire Oaks.

They started putting these drawings out in 2005 yet absolutely nothing has been done apart from 2 mid rise buildings in Princes Dock.

Its yet to to be seen how the world pans out after the pandemic. If companies realise people can work from home then the need for expensive office space will be reduced. There is already lots of empty office space and apartments in Liverpool City Centre, so cant see there being a huge demand for more 2 miles down the road in the next 10 years or more. As has been mentioned Liverpool has gone down the tourist route, whereas up the M62 they have gone for jobs and stability, like Salford Quays and Media City, which has brought tens of thousands of good jobs to the area. We've missed the boat again on that score.

The unicorn stadium and the sewerage plant are going to be on their own for a good while yet. A match made for each other.

'More than eleven'

Is this the number of managers they've had since they last won a trophy?

I thought it was a Bee Gees song?

Maybe it's a reference to Spinal Tap?

When it comes to batshit conspiracy theories and bringing us into absolutely everything, they definitely turn the dial past 11. Nil Spinal Nisi Tap.

You wonder what the aftermath of Covid will do to these ideas of skyscrapers and canary wharf. If more people are going to be working from home at least part time they'll end up turned into flats within a couple of years.

Then you'd really get the chance to close the curtains with Everton playing at the bottom of the garden

Not one of their current players in their video. Says it all really.

Most of the footage came from Pathe News. Hats off to the restorers and the chaps that colourised the b\w film. .

All of Everton’s kits will form part of hummel’s ‘More Than 11 campaign’, which recognises that football is much more than the eleven players on the pitch – it is the millions of fans in and outside the stadium and the local and international community in which football has a role to play. It is about the powerful bond between Everton and its fans, and the unrivalled passion of the Everton family that spans the globe.

They're going to beed a bigger stadium. Millions eh?

“May I start by saying how thrilled I am to be here. I am such a fan of Everton and all of your history. I’m not speaking of Everton specifically, but the whole genre of the football in this city.”

I'm not sure about tens of thousands, but I'm not going to split hairs.

Missed the boat? Boat? There was never a boat for us to catch. If they gave us a faint sniff of a rubber ring, it would have been filled with hot air. The same hot air that is BMD.
