*Shakes head* Everton again.

You don't have to be optimistic to be an optimist, but fuck me, this takes optimism to another level.

Ppl way over rate this league, we were by far the worse team last season and stayed up, Leicester won the thing a few years back. All we need is 1-2 players who are due to hit their prime and top 6 is achievable

This is more of a mental illness than optimism.

I'll see your optimism, and raise you a wild delusion.

I hope Dave has not just had his tea, because he''ll be spewing it up when he sees what The Ringer have in store for us:

Today we have current Leicester City player and England International Conor Coady on the podcast! Conor began his professional career at the Liverpool academy, eventually playing two games for the Reds. After two short spells at Sheffield United and Huddersfield, Conor found himself at the club that would cement him as one of the brightest English defensive prospects. Wolves would buy Conor for £2 million in 2015, and for eight years, Conor was the rock of their defensive line, helping the squad reach heights such as the Europa League in the 2019-20 season. Conor has also played 10 times for the 3 Lions, notably at EURO 2020, where, even though he didn’t play, he was dubbed “the player of the tournament” by assistant manager Steve Holland for his presence in the camp. Now, at Leicester City, his one and only aim is to get the Foxes back to the Premier League. In this episode, we speak to Conor about:

  • The current Leicester team and how the new manager has revolutionised the club
  • His rise through the ranks of the Liverpool Academy
  • His time at Liverpool rival Everton
  • The mental toll of Raul Jiménez’s injury on him and the squad

That can’t be right surely. I’m sure they sell well cheaper adult tickets.

Seems to be. The original article was in The Athletic, which I don't have a sub for, but several other sites have 'summarised' (i.e. copied it), e.g. https://www.givemesport.com/every-premier-league-club-ranked-by-their-cheapest-match-day-ticket-price/#pound-20-29-99

There's also this, which suggests all tickets are the same price at Goodison- https://www.goal.com/en-gb/news/premier-league-ticket-prices-packages/blta59b27347bd1c830

I love how so many of them despite all the overwhelming evidence, logic and previous experience - just never, ever, ever, ever frigging learn....

Cheers, not that I'll have time to read many of their 10,000 word theses, but it's good to know.

Rumours that 777 are close to a takeover. GOT in despair.

For anyone wanting the lowdown on their prospective new overlords - check out the Twitter thread 2 pages back.

American fund 777 partners are (co-)owners of 7 clubs and they’re doing a great job out of it.

Red Star: 10th in 3rd division
Standard: 14th in JPL
Vasco: 18th in Brasileirão
Hertha: 18th in Bundesliga 2
Sevilla: 19th in La Liga
Genoa: 19th in Serie

This is all just a series of coincidental financial misunderstandings, it’s an impossibility that one of the most successful and storied clubs in the English game, a founder club no less, with a list of firsts as long as Stretch Armstrong’s arms and with the most state-of-the-art stadium in the northern hemisphere, on the banks of the Royal Blue Mersey no less, could ever be allowed to sink into the Championship depths. It just won’t happen.

There’ll very likely be a saviour in white flowing robes, on a camel, come riding over Everton Brow to save the day any time now (no, not Jesus).

Then the power shift will truly be on.

Repped for making a stretch Armstrong reference about Everton and it's not related to taking the piss out of trex!

Most expensive lowest price tickets in the league. The People's Club.

My reaction to that was "that can't be right" and then I went to check their website. Every adult ticket is 55 quid. I'm surprised by that. I know they've been raising them year by year in preparation for the new ground, but I didn't know that much, as they used to be cheap. Their season ticket prices seem more reasonable though..the park end being the most expensive at £690 (just over 36 quid per game) and the cheapest being the family enclosure at 515 (27 quid). I assume you have to have a child with you in there, but they're reasonably priced too but differ by age from 150 a season up to 440 for 22-24 year old.
