My lad isn’t getting any younger, and with being busier as life goes on, he doesn’t always get his hourly daily run around like he once did. Will squeeze in 30 mins when I get a break with work - been better recently, but have been getting him out for some longer hikes. He loves it, but has been knackered on the days after it - like “leave me fucking here - what difference does it make to you if I’m in bed all day?” levels of knackered.

Matlock up by the high Tor, and Tarporley by the Hole of Mad Alan or something - the hermit who lived there for years - all those were from mate. Had a good few jaunts out with him recently. Usually just me and him with a mate I’ll meet half way, but my actual human lad is 3 now, so will be able to get mrs curly and him along at some point soon on the longer strolls. I’ve packed in playing footy during lockdown and tend to swerve heavy sessions on the ale now, so there is room for me to add some hobby time in. I can’t get into golf even though I’ve tried, but love getting a chunky walk done.

Before our son was born mrs curly and me would be regularly taking him on massive walks - doing a couple of hours along the coast at Crosby or the pinies where shorrocks used to be when we came back to visit family was an extended but pretty normal walk. We’d get away and get a 10 miler done regularly with him too, but with a little one it’s hard for us to fit them in all together - was actually easier when we could just put the baby in the harness and go for it, but still needed more notice and planning of the weather and conditions.

Anyway, that’s my life story you didn’t ask for.

Is he a labradoodle?

Looks quite like what our new boy Bilbo might grow up to look like, with the white patch

He was pretty stressed in the car when we brought him home last weekend.

After three and a half years of badgering her I think I’m almost there.

Her mate has chocolate lab puppies and we’re going to look at a bitch on Friday.

You can't go wrong with a Lab, bitches in particular. I've had them since I was a kid.

Apart from moulting they're the perfect family dog, oh, and greedy. I've never had one that wasn't greedy.

They don't stop eating when they're full, they just carry on eating!

Love Labs.

Make sure they're hip and eye tested though as these can be an expensive problem.

Early morning walk with Buddy. It wasn’t even 5am so there wasn’t a soul about.

He’s usually a bit a nutcase is Buddy, but he could see/sense that the grief had come for me on that bench. He probably sensed the guilt and shame that lies beneath.

Buddy never judges, he just licks away the tears, then shows me what it’s like to enjoy the moment by charging around in the grass.

Dogs rule.

Missus has been on loads of local dog shelters facebooks etc for a few years now. A few weeks ago this little fella appeared. She fell in love and sent an email in. A week last we went and met him for the first time. Today we went and picked him up.

Very nervous in the car but in no time has got comfortable and is already a full fledged member of the family.

Loki ladies & gents.
