My ideal setup would be someone emails me what they want designing/photoshopped i design it they pay me. Happy days.

 

I work outside in my current job and would love to make a career change to something i love doing.

That is exactly how my mate Pete makes a living. Sits at home with his mac, gets an email, does the work, wings it back over. Once in about a month he might have to talk to people, but he basically does what he wants when he wants.

Best thing is he said, there are absolutely no overheads, everything he gets is just pure profit. All he has to do is mess about with graphic design stuff.

 

Exactly why i want to do it plus can work it around family commitments.

Most of the time all these people want to know is that you know your shit and that you won't put them behind schedule, I know because my mate built his business up from his own bedroom doing these kinds of jobs.

 

It's really as simple as that Coop, just go on and start applying for freelance contracts, you've got nothing to lose plus it's not like you can't do the work is it? Everyone on here knows you can.

Im registered with CWjobs mate and only had one call from an Agency who wanted me to provide a portfolio with work i had already done for people.

 

Only work i have done is t-shirts and other stuff for Dave and im based in South Yorkshire and the positions they required were West Yorkshire. Still keep logging in to keep myself active as you never know.

 

Will have a look at the first link though.

Our Project Managers dish out a few projects each week to designers all over the place, but I'm getting sick of the level of SHITE being knocked out by some designers so i'm looking for some more.

I love paying peanuts for graphically work / flash stuff that would cost thousands if I used my uk agency.

 

If I dont like the work I just scrap the deal and pay nothing.

 

I have had .net apps created for 20% of uk prices by some guys in Brno cz republic.

 

had an entire corp imagy profile ( logo, letterheads compl slips done for under £80) All files formats etc

 

Now by boss wants to scrap its use as there are no formal payments procedures, i just pay on my credit card and claim on expenses. What a dickhead. pay thousand extra just to get crappy lazy work, but pay on a purchase order and vat invoice.

I'm currently moving to that at the moment. After a couple of months I'm a quarter of the way there.
