If not the greatest, one of the top three. Certainly played in the most magical of teams during the 1970 world cup.

If you were to list names of those responsible for the enduring global popularity of the game, he’d be on it.

I grew up at a time when highlights weren’t easy to find, let alone opportunities to watch full games. What I did see will never be forgotten though. A true football genius.

RIP

Rest in Peace Pele but you were fucking rubbish pal.

In every "highlight" you ever had, you fucking miss!

The Viagra debacle, selling himself out as a floosy spiv by endorsing shite products whilst allowing a damned Yankee white boy to humiliate him with a god awful voice over, God damn was there anything Pele wouldn't do for the filthy lucre?

The definition of a spiv imo and apart from his overhead kick in Escape To Victory, Pele was bang average.

Probably the first global football superstar.
Can only think of Matthews, Puskas, Di Setefano & John Charles who might have a part claim on that, but because of what he was part of, and when he was part of it, especially the 1970 team, Pele reached a bigger audience and his presence lifted the game.

Then the money men got hold of it.

RIP Edson Arantes do Nascimento, you were decent fella.
