I really thought I followed the youth team pretty closely, and Paulo Alves is a complete unknown to me.  I guess with Chirivella off on loan someone had to step in, but I just completely blank on him as a player.  Must have seen him at least once for the U23, as the official site describes him as a "regular" at that level, but I don't remember it.

Played a fair few games for the 23s, but he's mainly been a bit in and out of the side. I'd have thought a few of his teammates would have been higher in the pecking order for first team consideration, but Klopp has obviously seen him closer than we have.

 

A talented attacking midfielder, but one who's really not put down a marker in games that I've seen him involved in. That said, he's always put the effort in, so perhaps Klopp likes his work rate?

 

Just checked back through the fixtures for the 23s, and he has started the last 3 games, but always been substituted, including the fixture against the Mancs on Monday evening when he was replaced at half tme.
