Sterling actions reflect badly on him, but suit all parties

I read somewhere that a deal with City was done, bar I's being dotted and T's crossed a while back but that we wouldn't announce that we had city's money burning a hole in our pocket until we'd done the bulk of our business.  If that's true and it's a done deal, it's not surprising he doesn't want to keep up the pretence.

Said in the other the thread there are several players who the club for various reasons are not planning to be here next season. Balotelli, Borini, Sterling etc, all seems a bit pointless sending these players on tour. Unless the aim was to create extra friction from both sides.

Surely makes more sense for the club to have a smaller squad of all the players who know they will be here gelling. Players, clubs are just using this as leverage.

I guess with the amount of money involved 15-20% of the price they purchased the club for or several million bonus fees for his agent, it was to be expected.

It's all a game of brinksmanship now, played out by two sides with terrible poker faces, waiting for the other to cave.

"We don't need to sell you Raheem"

"Good, then I'm not handing in a transfer request"

"Good"

"I'm glad we sorted that out"

"Fine"

*cough cough* "Ooh I don't feel well"

No, the other way around surely.

If a deal is all but done, presumably his camp would know about it (certainly from the City end, if not us) so why would he be an absolute unprofessional wanker, tarnish his image further and thus reduce future earnings from endorsements and the like?

Just go through the motions for a couple of weeks and then be on your way.

He's gone.  He knows he's gone, so what's the point?  He thinks he'll be better off adapting to his new team, new manager than going through a charade for the benefit of some suits.  And I'm sure he's relying on the amoral nature of sponsors (see FIFA) in making his bets.

Raheem Sterling has accused Brendan Rodgers of leaking his phone number on Twitter.

Apparently he received over 2000 abusive messages.

His mates have been leaking videos of him doing legal highs so I can understand why he would blame the club for his number being leaked, It's not like he would try and make himself the victim in this would he.

I suspected on Sunday when he tweeted for the first time in months that he was looking for negative comments so he could moan about fans moaning at him, a couple of days later and surprise surprise he's saying that.

I hope it's true that his actions have made the club more determined to get the full amount they want, I don't want to see the cunt getting his own way but want his affiliation with LFC ended asap.

My God

Thanks for that not so gentle reminder as to where the real issues in this club lie

Somebody please, please, please get that clown Rodgers out of the club

THAT's what you took from all this? That Rodgers is the problem, and Sterling is what exactly? A saint, whos' only crime is not liking Rodgers? Catch a grip.

If Brendan thinks that he can handle a disgruntled and poisonous Raheem in the camp, then we should front it out, if he doesn't, a deal needs to be done.

By rejecting a £70k pay increase, Raheem loses out on £7m for the remainder of his contract, plus image and commercial rights if he is not playing.

If Sterling played for City, would we be offering £50m for him?

And if FSG want to focus on emerging talent with a sell on value then this scenario will play out again with others.

I thought the idea was to buy them cheap and sell them for a profit but not to make it too obvious. Oh and try to make it look as much as possible the players fault.

Fortunately they have Sterling fulfilling his part and the sale will go ahead after the club will have looked to have done all they can.

Kerching!!!

We'll see these battles play out every year now. I'm bored already.

with his attitude id say that other managers are cringing  at the thought of having him anywhere near there squads

dont sell him even after his latest temper tantrum stick him in the reserves for the remainder of his  contract in a couple of years nobody will want him and he will be washed up and forgotten about

as for the people leaking his personal contact details anyone else think its his agent ??

Wonder what his parents make of this nonsense (not sure if both are still around) He does come across as a bit of a clown away from football at times, but Stevie and Carra have both made out he's actually a good, grounded lad so it's odd he's pulling stunts like phoning in sick and giving an interview to the BBC without the club's knowledge.

Can an agent really have that much influence on a player?

His agent has put him up to this, but they haven't got the bollocks to hand in a transfer request and lose the potential millions in loyalty bonuses that come with a transfer of this magnitude. If you ask me he's already breached his loyalty bonus clause by refusing to play for us.

We really ought to have a blacklist of agents young players should never go near.

FA should compile it, clubs enforce it and cut the bile bleeding leach suckers out.

Edit: Any young footballer still using one of these agents should also be blacklisted, no Premier League should deal with them.

That's a good point actually, I thought talk of city not raising their bid is bollocks to get us to accept a lower amount but after Raheem has thrown his manager under the bus it may be giving other managers second thoughts.

I still think they will pay up if we hold out but fucking over the man who has played a massive part in your career is not going to give other managers the best impression of him.

Liverpool are prepared to force Raheem Sterling to see out the final two years of his Anfield contract as the transfer saga surrounding the 20-year-old drags on, according to reports from The Telegraph.

The Reds’ England international has now missed two days of training through a mystery illness, amid suggestions that he’s told the club he does not intend to take part in their pre-season tour of Thailand as he looks to push through a move to Manchester City.

Sterling’s latest actions come after his decision to spurn contract offers from Liverpool, his agent’s controversial claims and suggestions that he’s fallen out with manager Brendan Rodgers, and could be construed as an attempt to render his relationship with the Merseysiders untenable.

However, the club are not willing to relent, with reports claiming that unless a £50m offer is received they are ‘happy’ to let the youngster see out the final 24 months of his contract on his current £35,000-per-week salary.

City are thought to be biding their time in the hope his value will reduce.

Sterling's agent is like a hybrid of Jerry Maguire and the gobshite wannabe-NFL footballer played by Cuba Gooding Jr whom he looks after. All about showing the money and a massively annoying fucking twat of a cunt.

He'll be gone in a few weeks at most. The club knows it as well, both sides are just posturing now to look get the best deal.

Same shit different year, and another player who will leave on a bad note.

His agent is only serving his clients interests, as in, doing what Raheem tells him to do, which is by the looks of it, leave at any cost.

So all this bollocks about his agent is irrelevant, he does what his client wants.
