What 20 teams would you have making up the premier league if you could pick? Sort of like a European super league, but for English clubs. I mean, I would rather be playing Leeds away than Blackpool. And I would get more enjoyment twatting Forest 5 nil rather than Wigan. Using any criteria you like, past success, stadium size, support or whatever who do you think would be the best 20 teams to make up the league and make it more exciting? 1 Arsenal 2 Aston Villa 3 Birmingham 4 Cardiff 5 Chelsea 6 Everton 7 Fulham 8 9 Leeds 10 Liverpool 11 Manchester City 12 Manchester United 13 Newcastle United 14 Nottingham Forest 15 16 Sheffield Wednesday 17…

Its late so scoring won't start till September but is snyone interested in a long term multi year fantasy football. You pick a squad of players and set out your starting 11 each week with one sub. Scores will come from the EPL Fantasy site. No squad limitations of prices or clubs but each player can be selected once. It needs a multi year commitment really to work. You can trade players between teams and if it runs proberly you can trade players for picks in the following seasons draft of new players. It needs to be done soon if anyone is interested

I thought I ought to mention my enjoyable wednesday night in London town. Specifically the hour i spent i a hotel bar with a selection of Real Madrid fans. I was utterly steaming, which prompted me to tell a young man with a real scarf around his neck, whilst in the gents of a random pub, just how much i miss Xabi Alonso. I congratulated him on their successful evening and left. He barely understood me, but acknowledged my congratulations and I moved on. The bar shut some hour and a half later and my colleague and I moved on to the hotel bar. It turns out this hotel was fucking packed with spaniards, and although most had nothing to do with the football, the …

Had not heard of this myself, Synopsis AN EPIC SWINDLE is the inside story of how Liverpool FC came within hours of being re-possessed by the banks after the shambolic 44-month reign of American owners Tom Hicks and George Gillett. It is a tale of debts, lies and cowboys, of a civil war that dragged Britain's most successful football club to its knees, through the High Court and almost into administration. Players Steven Gerrard and Jamie Carragher tell of their anger at the broken promises, as well as their pain at watching loyal fans in open revolt. Manager, chief executive, board members, leading fans and journalists reveal the turmoil at a revered sporting insti…

I've repeatedly seen a familiar pattern when he's in the starting line up. When we are on the ball, particularly either centre backs and he comes short, he very rarely receives the ball. After being bypassed because he's come short, we end up being a man short in the middle of the park. Our centrebacjs then punt it long. Discuss.

Can't find a specific thread because I am using Forum Runner. I wanted to discuss Gerrard and his interview I have just seen on Football Focus. Now I have had my doubts of certain aspects of Gerrard's mentality as our captain. However I am seeing a different captain from recent times. And I am delighted. He seems so relaxed on and off the pitch and I suppose appears at ease with himself. He has come across in every interview I have seen recently as assured and a strong belief in what he is saying. I know he's always been confident but it just feels a different level of confidence is coming through. I loved the comment when he was questioned over the clu…

Hollywood A-listers to join battle for Liverpool The campaign against Liverpool’s owners is about to reach for the stars…with a cast of Hollywood A-listers READY to highlight the protest. Film industry big-hitters Mike Jefferies and Dan Hubbard, who are passionate Reds disgusted at what is happening to their beloved club, are on Merseyside this weekend to make a film highlighting the current plight. Jefferies is a Hollywood producer and director with a string of box office hits to his credit, while Hubbard has been involved in massive blockbusters such as King Kong and Bourne Ultimatum, and both will bring their impressive contacts list to the party. Twiglets are ace. I love the Mother Country. Real ale. Fish and chips. The anti-Europe sentiment. Did I mention a pint of bitter? Is there nothing better than holding a pint of bitter? Maybe Twiglets.

Scott Parker Amazing decision. I can only assume that Redknapp has placed a call to Pearce telling him to pick Parker now and then when Redknapp is in charge for the Euros he can ratify it. No doubt Pearce having been offered a job on the staff. I really feel for Stevie because you could see in his interview that he is desperate to be full time Captain. A quite amazing snub.

Someone started a thread on the FF with a bit of a rant basically saying he needs to be sacked. I think his future and the problems he faces at Chelsea are well worth discussing on the GF. I said this: I think people are too quick to have a go at Shitcoat Lite. Chelsea need a complete overhaul. Cech isn't the keeper he was and odds are he never will be again. Mongo is getting slower by the year, Bosingwa is shite, Ashley Cole not getting any younger, Luiz erratic, Mikel shite, Lampard a very good servant but age catching up, same goes for Drogba and Anelka. They might well turn us over in a week and I might look silly, but A Vacancy Beckons is getting it in th…

He's a player I've really liked ever since I first watched him playing for the U18s a couple of seasons ago. He reminds me quite a lot of Carra (albeit with a bot more pace) and I reckon he's got a great, great future here and is definitely future captaincy material. Anyway, here's a good piece on him from today's Independent that includes a couple of interesting snippets on Rodolfo Borrell, too: Andre Wisdom: Fast learning Liverpool trade - Premier League - Football - The Independent Bright teenager has made rapid progress from parks football to the first team partly because of an ability to think on his feet nurtured in the tough part of Leeds where he grew u…

I like this lad. I'm not convinced he'll ever make it as a centre back; unless we play three at the back, then he'd be very suited to the right-sided centre back. But using Carra's philosophy, you're either a failed winger or a failed centre half. I like my full backs to be defenders first and then attackers. See Flanagan. And the best example in the World is Ivanovic. Probably my favourite full back. He's at a good age now - big, strong, fast and seems to be fairly vocal. Glad to see he has signed for four more years. His attacking play is underrated too.

I am sure there were a few over-reactions to his hesitation to take ball and man out of it on Saturday which lead to the goal, so thought I'd start a thread to gauge opinion on where people think he's at. If you watch slowly, there was a split second where he could have got a strong foot in but held back and the striker skipped past him. I've read a few opinions over the Summer that Wisdom doesn't seems to have the 'class' to be a top centre half. I am not sure what that means - is that his ability on the ball? If so, that is one area where he needs to work on but other than that he has a lot of strong attributes for a 20-year-old. If you look at centre half's an…

So who is our new signing and what qualities does he have which can help us both in the short and the loing term. The one thing most people know is that he has had a great season so far in the PL scoring 11 goals in 19 games, 18 starts. So lets take a look at his stats and see if they can tell us something. 10/11: PL: 19 (18+1)matches - 11 goals - 3 assists Great return for such a young player in an average team like Newcastle, he does not take penalties either and that makes his starts even better compared to most others on top of the top scorer chart. Right foot: 6 goals Left foot: 1 goal Head: 4 goals He can score goals with both his feet an…

I went to Bumper this very eve and sanded the bouncers if Andy Carroll paid a visit here and they said he doesn't buy a double does . I spent 4 hours sampling the alcoholic beverages and when I came out I asked again and they said he doesn't come in here it's bullshit. So those who heard he spent time in a shit bar, has your opinion changed because I have gone right to the source? Probably not you cunts.

I know I'm probably in a minority of myself and atk but I'd love for us to sign Andy Carroll from Newcastle. I know he's supposed to be a massive dickhead, but I think he's a potentially brilliant forward. Against the mancs last night he was Newcastle's only threat as he kept beating Vidic in the air and making a nuisance of himself. But he also showed a desire and a willingness to track back and defend and work for the side, which I liked. There was certainly no superstar or big ego apparent in his performance. I saw him for the first time at St James' Park at a Youth Cup quarter final with Dave a couple of years ago and he was brilliant even then. You just k…

If that's what we can expect from him next season then bring it on. The lad was unplayable and was the best player on the pitch by a mile when he came on. I thought he took the 2nd chance perfectly well, Cech just got across really well. Can't blame then lino as even on reply it was hard to be certain it was over the line. Anyway, I think I was wrong about big Andy. He looked every bit a top player whenhe came on. A big summer has to include getting in players to compliment him.

Kennys spot on. Capello can go and fuck off. We've spent the last month being patient over his fitness and trying to get him back fit and now he wants to pick him. Its not as if he's consistant either, he doesnt pick the likes of Ferdinand or Lampard when they've only go an itchy arsehole. So why does he do it with our players? He done the same with Gerrard in November. refused to take him off and he got injured and he was out for a month. We had the same problem with Torres, Spain used to take him when he was half fit and he'd go and get injured. The club have to start standing up to this shite. they're our players.
