But just read this on the BBC Manchester United are edging closer to signing Valencia forwards David Villa and David Silva, with the Spanish club willing to listen to offers. With winger Cristiano Ronaldo offloaded in the summer, Sir Alex Ferguson has cash to spare and the United manager is willing to pay £40m for the duo. Full story: Daily Mirror Liverpool are keen on securing the services of Sampdoria midfielder Koman Vladimir. The Hungarian star is currently on loan at Bari and is valued at £4m. I absolutely love this passion. Hate the narrative of the article, but just love this. Steven Gerrard has kept controversy simmering from the 219th Merseyside derby by labelling Everton a long-ball team similar to Stoke City and claiming Liverpool were the only side that tried to play football at Goodison Park. Liverpool were incensed at being denied a legitimate stoppage-time winner in Sunday's 2-2 draw when Luis Suárez was incorrectly ruled offside as he converted a header from Sebastián Coates. David Moyes argued Suárez was lucky to have been on the pitch at that stage, having escaped with a yellow card for a dangerous challenge on Sylvain Distin. Gerrard w…

Tottenham boss Harry Redknapp called for match officials to use technology after a controversial penalty award in their 5-2 defeat by Manchester United. He was furious when referee Howard Webb gave United a penalty, ruling Heurelho Gomes had fouled Michael Carrick. "The players can't believe it," said Redknapp. "It changed the game. "The referee made a terrible mistake. You should have technology. The fourth official should be watching the TV monitor and talking to the referee." BBC SPORT | Football | Premier League | Redknapp furious at Webb decision I've been thinking this for years now, and I think it should definitely be done. If the decision i…

The crippling rates they charge pubs are about to come crashing down. - Ban on foreign football satellite feeds is illegal, says European Court adviser Published 11:27 03/02/11 By MirrorFootball UK broadcasters cannot prevent viewers using foreign satellite feeds to watch Premier League football matches, an adviser to the European Court of Justice (ECJ) has said. In a move that could have major ramifications for the Premier League, Sky Sports and ESPN, ECJ advocate general Juliane Kokott has said a such a block is against European law. Currently Premier League football is shown live in other countries on a Saturday afternoon, but that is banned in the…

AGGER SET FOR RESERVES COMEBACK Daniel Agger will make his long-awaited comeback from injury in the reserve match at Blackburn Rovers on Thursday night - and you can watch live on LFC TV or online from 7pm GMT. The Danish international has been sidelined with a broken metatarsal since the goalless draw against Portsmouth on September 15. Reds boss Rafael Benitez is delighted to have Agger available again and has likened his return to making a new addition to his squad. "Agger will play for the reserve team at Blackburn and for us it's like signing a new player," said Benitez. "He is very close to starting a game for the first team. "The injury he ha…

A mate of mine reckons we are being linked to these two players, just wondering if anybody has heard anything. He could be winding me up about the Yeste one as I have his name on the back of my Bilbao shirt (being April Fools Day and all) but he swears he isn't on the wind up but then again he is from Rafas homeland, a good young player so who knows. Maybe Rashid could post the information about these two players. Ta.

Obviously was a disaster but it had it's fun bits too. Loved the flags outside the city arms pub over the NCP car park, and the photo someone had of Roman naked with Ken bates giving him one up the ass was very funny. All the singing chanting in and out of the City arms was excellent, an excellent atmosphere before the match. As for the game. Plenty of people have vented there feelings on here, driving back last night it was for me just total frustration more then anger. Chelski won the cup because we let them not because they played better. The Gerrard own goal was not his fault, no-body can say otherwise he was just unluckly and obviously he looked gutted…

rather like the portsmouth game an early goal set the scene for a easy win. 1st half was superb fast play, passion, goals all in abudence could not ask for anymore of the players. 2nd half once again took foot off the pedal, pisses me off when we do this goal difference could be crucial at the end of season the more goals we get against the shite oppostition the better, from now on the teams we are going to play get much harder. Still we won so I won't gripe to much about that even if I want too. Thankfully Blackburn didn't offer anything going forward, just how crap are they though I was quite surprised, they had no opportunities thankfully to take advantage of…

Yesterday was my first visit to Anfield this season (thanks to a mate and his ST) and it was a good match to see. The result and the performance were both very encouraging, although it has to be said that Norwich were appalling. I don't watch any First Division football (in fact I don't watch any football bar Liverpool) so I don't know what they were like last season. However, if they are an accurate indication of the quality at the top of the second tier of English football, I think Everton's place in The Premiership is secure for years to come, no matter how poor (in both senses of the word) they are. Jerzy had, literally, nothing to do and the whole match was spent…

The Sunderland match informed me that other managers and consequently their teams smell blood. Sunderland gifted us a goal yesterday, then went for our jugular the match stats made depressing reading for those who take on board such things. I have to admit I do dally with them looking for clues at the scene of the crime In the past teams parked the bus, now they seem intent on driving it straight down our throat, even Northhampton did that! I was speaking to John Coleman manager of Accrington in July, a mad Liverpool supporter and I put it to him that Roy may hold little in the way of surprises for the rest of the football world remembering that his ten man Accr…

I met TLW forumite 'kop'. He looks nothing like his avatar, and he's bigger than Crouchy. As well as meeting me, kop also met Uncle Travelling Matt. I wasn't fortunate enough to meet UTM, but on the plus side Rashid didn't show up ;-) Only joking Rash. Just thought I'd share that with the group.

Hello chaps, For those of you who don’t know I have moved away from the beautiful Wirral to the sights and sounds of tolberone filled Switzerland, Zurich to be precise. This is due to my job being relocated over the water so I thought I’d take the offer, pay rise and relocation package and scarper. I’ve been here 3 weeks now and it’s all going smoothly, thanks for asking  ! Managed to build a satellite dish I bought and got Sky working so some normality is in place, Soccer Saturday, Hollyoaks omnibus on a Sunday, you know the usual stuff. Anyway I thought I would take a walk on the wild side and go to a Swiss game. Now I’ve always thought of Grasshoppers…
