For the life of me I've never understood why they don't elect the President on a popular vote and do away with all the focus on a handful of swing states. The vast majority of voters are completely ignored as they live in solidly Blue or Red state. Joke of a political system.

Think it stems from the birth of the nation and founding fathers. Like many countries a couple of hundred years ago, the common man wasnt considered literate enough to vote on such important matters as directly electing a President. Women didnt get a look in at all.

Not sure if the state elections were used to get  just an indication which way the populous was leaning allowing the learned men to make the actual decision and it just continued that way.

It's also why the Presidential election is held in November but the inaguration of the President is in January. Votes in Western States took weeks to gather in and then transport across the country to Philidelphia when it was the capital before DC was built.

Agreed but for fucks sake can’t they ever update the system. Their second amendment was written was written for people who had muskets and there was no standing army not for headbangers with automatic weapons. It’s a total fuck up.

It's like a weighing scale, a good bookie will balance the books so he wins whatever the result. Thats the theory, hd will then earn without risk. Not as easy as it sounds though and not as much profit I playing percentages, a few shrewd big bets/a late flurry of money etc can result in bookmaker liability, that's why they try to move the odds to alter the market thus alter their profits/losses.

The bottom line in the gambling industry is The House Always Wins.

Only a truly, desperately shit-awful casino-owner could actually lose enough to go bust. Such a person shouldn't be trusted with anyone's money.

You grasped it angry, in fairness I think Brucie was teasing.

The problem used to be that politicians had reputations for evading questions or giving fluff answers when challenged in interviews. They still do that but now the real problem is interviewers never have the energy or time to pull them up on the most outrageous lies that these people tell. They either haven't done their homework and can't challenge, or they're just too meek. Meanwhile the lie is edited, filtered out to the wider public as a clip, usually on social media, and it's now 'truth'.

Facebook is the most dangerous threat to democracy since WWII. Forget about Communism, the Russians, North Korea and all that - a social media company that gives anything and everyone a platform with either no filter or locks the stable door after the horse has made it to a different postcode. They put their hands up and say "we're not a news source" and yet they purvey over the biggest reaching news network on the internet. Facebook should be broken up and sold off piecemeal, it's too big and too vast. You could argue the same for many tech companies now. Abdicating resposibility whilst reaping the rewards and allowing 'MSM' to take the blame for the lies that go around like wildfire. It's horrendous.

The mob were/are pretty good at running people’s businesses into the ground to their benefit. Theres a good Netflix doc about the New York mob and the controlling of concrete and links to trump which just continually plays in my mind whenever I think about him bankrupting a casino.

He's going to going to win the election in November even though most likely by over 200K Americans will have died from Covid-19 and there will still be rioting going in in certain states.

Biden is a a weak alternative and I think Trump will destroy him in the debates - the fact its even close in the polls currently when Trump should be dead in the water is a joke.

Comes to something that the debate will sway around Biden's mental competency, even on Biden's worst day he looks like Scatman John compared to this blert.

I don't know, man. He literally shat himself a couple of months ago.

He goes up in my estimations there.

American presidents in my lifetime have always been somewhat wanting in the brains department, save for Clinton and Obama. Reagan had his own section of Spitting Image called 'the President's brain is missing'. George Dubya's malapropisms are the stuff of legend.

The fundamental difference between all of these people, including Biden vs Trump, is that on some level they probably knew it, and surrounded themselves with people who could therefore do the heavy lifting. Trump's biggest threat isn't that he's a cretin, it's that he thinks he's a genius.

Biden could be surrounded by a curtain on an iron lung, but at least he wouldn't have a property developer in charge of the middle east peace process. an NFL owner as ambassador to the UK, or an imbecile like Pompeo in charge of the State Department.

The guy has a speech impediment. He's adapted his statement to combat a stammer. Surely a sign of mental acuity, rather than weakness. His point obviously suffers, but he rephrased and still states the fact quite clearly.

He's quite obviously lost a step since even the Obama days.
