Just an embarrassing post from them, as per. They’ve done fuck all in that period and we’ll have rebuilt 50% of our ground in a similar time frame.

I assume they moved that cone about a bit as well.

Have they announced how they are funding it yet?

I really hope they build it and have the fantasy that all they need is a ground burst. They don’t understand that a new stadium won’t improve the team, they still need to invest in the squad and this will just be a millstone around their necks.

What I don't understand from an engineering point of view, is the idea of the dock being infilled with sand. Will that not cause subsidence issues sooner or later due to settling?

Can anybody 'fill me in' on this? Pardon the pun. Then go and laugh your bollocks off at all the clichés about Everton being built on sand.

Are we just starting a timer on the inevitable 'Ifithadntbeenforthesand'?

They’ve invested plenty in recent years, and it’s hardly improved the team.

Its all about friction. As. long as the sand is hemmed in with nowhere to go, I think it provides a very solid foundation. Half the buildings in Dubai are built over sand. Not that I am an engineer, just things that Ive read.

Sand doesn’t compress if it is, as you say, hemmed in and is a very good base for foundations.

In other news though, Everton are shite.

It's quite common for building, you can make it very stable without it being encased purely by layering it with something else, for want of a better way of putting it essentially make it a sand composite. If you just dump it then it will only form a cone kind of shape as the friction isn't capable of holding it in place, layering it with something else prevents that maximum friction level being reached.

If you encase if in concrete it's hugely stable as it has nowhere to move and compacted it sits and can't go anywhere. Think of it a bit like when you filled a bucket for a sand castle as a kid, if you fill it entirely you can't push the sand down anymore as it has nowhere to go. That's what they'll have done with the dock essentially.

Dubai is a bit of a unique case as some of the buildings have quite big issues, Dubai is a bit like Man City, all looks nice and shiny but ultimately is a bit shoddy and mostly fur coat and no knickers. They present a "isn't this wonderful" front while really it's all a bit shallow, not actually all that well created and would fall apart and be unsustainable the instant oil money vanished.
