Happy Thanksgiving

Just wanted to say Happy Thanksgiving to all on TLW. Looking forward to a few days off here. We are having turkey, ham, all the veggies and pumpkin pie. Very traditional for these parts. The kids are watching the Macy's parade on the telly and I'm spending some time chilling out with a nice cup of coffee.

We have tickets to see the Indianapolis Colts v San Diego Chargers on Sunday night. Should be a good weekend, starting today!

Is thanksgiving the celebration of the natives giving the settlers food? have I got that right?

Yep, that's the one Stu. The settlers apparently wouldn't have made it through the winter were it not for the kindness shown by the native population. They gave them food and help and saw to it that they were OK.

Without wanting to get all political about this, it strikes me as odd that the obvious implications of this first thanksgiving may possibly be lost on large swathes of the US population today, given all the fuss over immigration.

Anyway, Stumptown is spot on. It is just like an early Christmas with all the food and festivity. We'll watch some films later and enjoy a nice drink and more food. Day off tomorrow and a lazy lie in planned. Mrs G to hit the sales probably. Lovely.
