Carroll needs to get out of Newcastle if he's to leave that off-the-pitch stuff behind. It's still a big risk, mind, but Kenny's as good a man as any to get him straightened out. I think he'd be dominant for us, but I agree 35m is over the odds.

It's all a bit mad and its only lunchtiime.

I've compared him to Duncan Ferguson before. As have many others I'm sure.

And I would hope he's a far better player than him, becuase for all his "cunt" - sorry "cult" - status, and frenzied quacking about how "unplayable" he was, Duncan Disorderly was an overrated, perma-injured pisshead halfwit, who scored about 7 goals a season at best.

I guess it depends on Kenny's plans. I kind of agree on the Fergsuson evaluation too,

Again from limited viewings of Suarez(mainly the world cup), it would seem like an old fashioned big man, poacher type partnership that he is going for. Not even sure how relevant that is in todays game but I guess we may well soon find out.

If we got 15 goals from Carroll and 25 from Suarez then it would be a great partnership. I'll defer to the King on this one.

Nostalgia i know, but this has the hallmarks of the summer of 87.

The irreplaceable Rushie left and we improved with buys from Oxford/Watford/Newcastle.

Yeah, but we had a better defence and midfield then.

Lucas or Steve McMahon?

Agger or Hansen?

Hmmm, tricky one.

Not saying we'll win the league, but on the whole we might just end up better off coming out of this when all finally settles.

Torres just couldn't be arsed playing for us lately. At least we should have some players who want to be here.

Suprised no one has gone in for Lacina Traore.

Most clubs are so inept in the transfer mkt, I'd be surprised if many of them are even aware of him!

For the right price, I think Carroll could go onto be a brilliant buy. But with how much he is likely to cost, we could buy both Lukaku and Traore for that price.

what about this:

Out Torres (50 million)

In

Suarez (23 million),

Ashley Young (20 million - crazy price with him nearly out of contract but great player),

Jamie McCarthy (10 million - would make more sense than Adam - quality young player)

Andy Carroll (33 million - crazy price but quality player)

That would be great business. bring in hazard and contreao in the summer, then I'll be hopeful of the future.

I dunno. £30m for Andy Carroll is outrageous and too good to turn down.

That said, they will be pissed off, because that money will go into Ashley's casino account, rather than the team.

It is pretty outrageous. But considering the situation we are in i reckon it might be worth it.

Personally from what i've seen of Carroll i really rate him, but i totally agree 30 million is pretty crazy.
