Down to 10 men for the second half against a team like Arsenal, our most creative player sent off, effectively down to 9 men for 15 minutes, an inconsistent referee, and they needed a cock-up by our 'keeper who was blinded by the sun.

Decent start to the season. It would have been fantastic had we held on and we nearly did except a bit of bad luck.

 

I would have taken 1-1 at half time and although it feels like a defeat to concede so late, we did well with 10 men in defence.

 

Hope Roy keeps us solid at the back until we buy another striker and start to play fluent football.

Fantastic second half display. We showed fight, desire and determination. Scouse solidarity shone through. Many wools out and about the stadium but we showed them how it's done. Ngog played brilliantly. Pepe Reina 10/10. He is an absolute fucking legend. You could see the pain on his face. Torres. looks like he could be ready for first team action soon.

 

Good debut for Roy, we played positively when we needed to and hit them on the break when he needed to.

 

Koscielny is now one of the most hated cunts in the League.

Thought Kuyt played well. Lots of time on the ball, cropped up all over the place. I was impressed with the way we changed positions in midfield today. Defended like lions too at times. Mistakes happen, we were never badly undone.

Feel sorry for Pepe but it's a measure of his character that I'm not a bit worried about how it will affect him.

Really pleased with the determination we showed second half.

Only caught the last 30 minutes but that was a superb effort from the team, who seemed to respond well to what the manager must have said at half time. It feels wrong being disappointed with what was a good result in the circumstances, especially as for the last 15 mins we were effectively down to nine men with the situation Agger found himself in.

Well all things considered I will take that result. At half time we were right back in the worst form of last season, but you cannot ask any more than that second half performance with ten men. It's a horrible way to concede a goal, but it was coming in fairness as they were all over us at that stage and Torres was not providing the outlet I hoped for when he came on. I hope the players can take the good from this game and use it. The result is not the end of the world, but the turnaround in attitude at half time could be something vital for us. Start the next game in that vein and show that fight in every game and we will be a different side to last season.

He did what he always does - runs his heart out which is great, but he offers nothing as an attacking option. Nothing.
