I'd go for;

 

1. Mascherano - absolutely brutal throughout. Our best defender by a long shot, and coupled with the sending off, ensured that Sami, Carra and Pepe had a lot less to do than they might have expected before the game. Brilliant performance again.

 

2. Gerrard - always kept things moving and never stopped. A class above the opposition and always likely to produce something special.

 

3. Kuyt - I dont think he played especially well, but he scored the most important goal anyone in our side has scored for a long while, probably since Torres' second goal at home to Porto. Fully deserved it after his hard work, even if the majority of his end product was poor overall.
