  1. Klopp for me...he knows what its like to have to compete against teams with more money/influence, he has always had to work to a budget & gives youth a chance. His Dortmund team have a reputation for playing the most attractive football in the Bundesliga and he has had domestic success. I could not see him leaving Dortmund though - unless they start selling his players against his wishes. He is probably looking forward to trying to crack the Champions League next season rather than going into the Europa Leage with us.
  2. What ????? I am married to one & they bloody are NOT ! (sadly). Married, curvy Office Managers however are raving nymphos
  3. It screams "Manchester City" at me so no way will I be buying it !
  4. He was my hero as a kid and I cried buckets when he left. He gave me my first hard lesson that players do not feel the same about clubs as the fans....Keegan was a great player but he never loved LFC (never stopped him giving 100%) and was just as happy to play for Hamburg etc...he had the chance to come back to LFC - remember an article about him having lunch with Peter Robinson just before he signed for Southampton. Peter Robinson said he was welcome back anytime but Keegan was not interested. I have fond memories of him playing for LFC but have no time for him as a pundit.
  5. Babbel is one of my all time favourite LFC players...I loved the style of play and 100% devotion to the cause, I heard good things about him from people who met him and ,when I met him myself, found him a really sound bloke. I also have a soft spot for Hertha Berlin. My Dad lived 5 minutes walk from the Olympiastadion for many years and when I visited him I would get taken to their games. (LFC have always been number one but I would go and watch other teams when abroad). With that in mind I have been following how Markus got on at Hertha Berlin this season and I am delighted that he got them promoted back into the Bundesliga. The following article has a few interesting pointsim (quoted here) "As a member of title-winning teams at Bayern, Liverpool and Stuttgart, not to mention a European Champion with the German national team, coach Markus Babbel is everything Hertha historically hasn't been - measured, professional and, above all, successful. He's also the antithesis of the Jürgen-Klopp coach-as-fan model that is all the rage in German football at present. The immaculately tailored Babbel rarely leaves his seat during matches. He typically follows the action, even when Hertha win, with the mien of someone witnessing a particularly grisly road accident. The 38-year-old is still relatively young, and questions still exist about tactical prowess. But his ability to man-manage a squad is beyond all doubt. Babbel employed a surprising number of players in Hertha's drive to promotion, including a handful of youngsters and unknowns. Last autumn, for instance, he demoted veteran striker Rob Friend in favor of 19-year-old Pierre-Michel Lasogga, and the bullish forward has repaid him with a double-digit goal tally. Babbel also did not hesitate to begin away matches with playmaker Rafael, regarded by most as the most skilled footballer in the second division, on the bench. Simultaneously, he developed the unheralded Australian midfielder Nikita Rukavytsya - seen as an afterthought free transfer as the season began - into the league's number two provider of assists. Benching stars is often a sure-fire way of destroying team chemistry. But from top to bottom, the squad got behind Babbel's decisions without much grumbling in the press - an unusual occurrence." Hertha Berlin back in top flight, with new fans in tow | Sports | Deutsche Welle | 26.04.2011 I hope that King Kenny is manager for many more years but when he decides to retire (after number 25 and number 10) I would love it if Markus returned to LFC as coach/manager
  6. Class ! Thanks for the info guys....love the celebration :)
  7. Have got a few days off work and was watching LFC TV...was showing some goals from the U18's and I was very impressed with Adam Morgan - particularly his will to win/attitude. What do those of you who get to watch the U18s on a regular basis think of him ?

  9. Great to hear that big Sami is still showing his Legend status. How I wish we could have a young Hyypia in our team again. Bayer Leverkusen had Ballack refuse to go to a match because he did not want to be on the bench...Sami was ill but still wanted to be there even if only as sub. Jupp Heynckes said of Sami - "He is a fantastic professional and I have never had anybody like him." http://http://theworldgame.sbs.com.au/germany-bundesliga/news/1047523/Heynckes-slams-Ballack
  10. Take John Barnes as an example. One of my favourite ever players and a true Anfield legend...he claimed that discrimination had stopped him getting a top management job - conveniently forgetting that he got the Celtic job and could not hack it and he has since been unsucessful at Tranmere. Its not because he is black its because he is not cut out to be a manager. People are looking for excuses but the truth is that a combination of luck (right place, right time), contacts and skill are what is required...there are many great ex players who could not make it as a manager - I do not believe that colour has anything to do with it...if John Barnes had proved himself elsewhere he would probably be Liverpool manager now.
  11. Hopefully just papers being their usual selves - trying to unsettle us because things are on the up. I really believe that Pepe is different but after torres you never know. Pepe is one of my favourite LFC players ever but if he goes Kenny will replace him and we will continue on the road to glory.
  12. LOL. We all have it bad...my missus is sick of hearing about King Kenny. She says I love him more than I love her...and she's right !
  13. I used to live in Blackburn and had the opportunity to talk with when he was Blackburn manager - told him he was my hero as a player but that the rag incident had angered me. He said he would regret it for the rest of his days and convinced me that he was genuinely sorry. I was left feeling alot more respect for him - we all make mistakes and at least he apologised and admits it. As a player he was the dogs and we would be lucky to get a player of that quality for £100 million !
  14. To be honest it could have been either answer...not sure how I feel. I understand his frustration at how slowly things are moving BUT things are finally picking up, King Kenny is back...Maybe he thinks that Kenny is only there until the end of the season and then its another new manager, yet more delays etc. The timing is what annoys me - end of season sit down and ask "who will be the manager ?" "How much are you going to spend on players ? " etc but not now when we could go on a run and climb the table. And if we get 40- 60 million for him (depending which paper you read) its no use to us just now - no time to sign anyone. At least if he wants to go it should be at the end of the season so we have time to use the money to build a better team. Part of me says "Fuck him ! Sell him for the maximum we can get and I hope we pip Chelski to a Top 4 place" but then I think of the good times and I would like to see him in a good Liverpool team winning things with Kenny.
  15. :) I love him...he so gets what LFC is all about...he lives and breathes Liverpool Football Club. The man is a true legend.
