Random quotes below by Eamonn Dunphy, Irish football commentator. I'll let the quotes speak for themselves...

ON Cisse:

" here we have Cisse, right wing, attempts to put in a cross,

BANG...hits the full back, again BANG hits the full back, BANG...off the

full back again, and once more, BANG...smacks the full back again....

Millions of euro and he can't clear the first man, I mean...what's he

trying to do to the full back here, Kill him??"

On Kewell:

"Eamon, how did you rate Harry Kewell ?"

"Fat. And a clown. A fat clown for all to see."

On Fowler:

"An overweight has been. He's got more money than Liverpool!"

On Mourinho:

"A bluffer who just got found out. Will never be at the tactical level of

Milan or Barcelona, doesn't even have the footballing intelligence even to

know why Barca beat him. Look at his claims that the best team didn't win.

Ridiculous. He's a bengal lancer"

ON Cisse and Garcia:

"It was Ragball Rovers out there with Cisse and

Garcia. Look at Cisse. Somebody thought he was worth £14 million at some

stage. He's no left foot and no right. £14 million and counting. They

bought him a big mansion in Cheshire and now he's no more than a part of

the landed gentry. Absolute rubbish "

On Garcia:

"What do you do with Garcia, I'll tell you what to do with

him, he should be put in a rubbish bin where he belongs "

The man is obviously a grade-A prick.

Undoubtedly; but he's an interesting and unpredictable one - unlike the succession of tossers trotted out by Sky and the BBC (with honourable exceptions in Nial Quinn and Gary Mac).

Thing is, if i wanna listen to that sort of stuff I can sit down the pub and have a laugh, for him to do it on national tele is a bit off IMO.

English pundits are awful i agree, but that is way out of order on national tele.

I was watching the game on rte (the channel he works with), We were not good the other night but on RTE they take great pleasure in slating us, so much so that they are still taking the egg off their faces from Istanbul. Ray Houghton was match summariser and he had very little good words to say about us either.

Dunphy can be a cock, but he isn't afraid to speak his mind neither is John Giles who is also a member of the panel.

The quotes are from the post match analysis where they should how poor our crossing was, they showed about 8 examples of primarily Cisse, but also kewell and Garcia putting in terrible ball after terrible ball, and you could hear them laughin in the studio, that imo is overstepping the line, and shows a complete lack of respect.

However Dunphy cannot be accused of only hounding us, he consistently berates Man U and even Chelsea, he is controversial for the sake of being controversial, tho at times it can be funny to hear them come out and call players cheats, they really don't mince their words, which can be refreshing.

I was over in Ireland last week and watched the Newcastle-Bolton game on RTE. I was amazed by how outspoken and honest the studio guests were - Gary Stevens wasn't too bad but Giles was unbelievably critical of all sorts of different things.

He was slating Bolton about the way they play which was very funny but I couldn't help but feel that if he was having a go at us i'd be fuming. How come they are so controversial over there - does it have anything to do with it being a different country? I.E. They can get away with saying what they want because no-one over he is watching?

They can get away with it because they dont have any contact with the clubs apart from covering the match. There are no post match interviews or exclusives so RTE don't have to suck up to the clubs the way that the BBC or Sky do. Fergie got some criticism from the BBC and he hasn't spoke to them since and Mourinho got in a strop with Sky.

By the way since I moved over to Ireland a few years ago almost every time that gobshite Dunphy is on RTE he always manages to get in 'the magnificent Roy Keane' in much the same way that Tyldesley goes on about 'that balmy night in Barcelona'. The prick only tries to be controversial for the sake of it and he looks like a tramp and and he must be the only pundit to be sent home for being pissed and then keeping his job!

Thank God for that.

Seriously, that guy would start an argument in a telephone booth, with himself. From the moment he tangled with Jack Charlton in Italia 90, he has made a habit of, well, pissing people off.

Which makes sense, as on more than one occassion, he has done his post match summaries while pissed. On drink.

Which possibly explains why they are more forthright with their opinions than the British clones.

Just now, Dr Nowt said:

On the leaderboard at the very least.

Feel like you have to give it up to both of these, particularly the formulation of the latter.
