Racism

What can the clubs do about it , apart from ask the police to eject anybody doing it. People don't turn up at the turnstile with "RACIST" stamped on their foreheads.

Lazio could start off by sacking Di Canio. That would prove they meant it.

Well in DT. And the BBC, for example, could decide not to employ Schmeichel. Managers could take players off - didn't GH say he would do that once? I would certainly have supported that. With CCTV, this kind of thing can be picked up on a lot more easily.

I thought this was one of the reasons for seats, so that "troublemakers " could be easily identified.......................

But how far does it go JB - -do the players go off cos some guys are callin certain players names whether they're coloured , irish , french , or whatever theres always gonna be that - The Madrid style stuff I'd agree with tho - Thats large volumes of the crowd , not 1 or 2 muppets - there were thousands doin it

You've only got to go to the like of The Kings Rd when chelsea are at home and have a pint in the pub before the game or Milwall to see that racism is alive and well in English football.

Wrexham were docked 10 points for going into administration. Can't remember the italian team but were forced to play behind closed doors as a missile hitting the ref (the swiss fella who didnt give england the pen in euro 2004)

There are answers it's just having the bottle to use them.

You don't even have to go that far. You should try Goodison Park!

Moist racist fans in the Prem if you ask me. CErtainly from my experience anyway. Chelsea are next but Everton have them well beat imo.

It's a bit of a difference, saying a player won't adapt because he's Spanish and players going about stiff-arming supporters or racist chanting at Carlos.

You could agrue that the 'long pork sausage' will fit in brilliantly because Heinze has done well at ManU, or you cold say not because Veron was shite at Chelsea/ManU. Neither are racist.

Erm yes they are. You are claiming that his nationality is the deciding factor in his ability to do something. That is racism my friend.

If you said, he came from the same league and is a similar style of player so I think he will fit in...fair enough.

So are you saying Gav is racist because of the first line of his signature about Alonso then ?

No.

1. I doubt it's a serious claim.

2. To suggest someone from spain might drink a very popular spanish drink is hardly racist.

3. To say a person's ability to do something is decided by thier nationality is racism. ARE WE ALL AGREED ON THIS BIT HERE......YES WOULD BE THE CORRECT ANSWER.

I agree with NP. I don't think it's racist to say that you don't think Joaquin will settle and be a success in England because he comes from Spain. Lifestyle and culture is different in the two countries, why is establishing that fact expressing racism?

I don't follow that at all.

Someone calling him a spic cunt, now that's different.

Don't agree. The line implies that he is Spanish because he drinks San Miguel. That is not the same thing as you are stating in 2. I like Aguila, but it doesn't make me Spanish.

Gav, this isn't a dig at you at all mate, I just don't like to see common sense go out the window when racism is mentioned, especially selective racism......

Because it's about understanding that every person on this planet is an individual and coming from a country does not mean you will be a certain kind of person.

Content of thier character. Content of thier character.

But it's just generalising though. Harsh perhaps, but hardly racist. IMO.

Anyway, I wouldn't hold it against anyone if they said I was likely to [imsert prejudice about Danes here] and if I did anyway, I wouldn't think of the person saying it as being a racist.

Bellflower, the song is hardly serious is it!! It's saying a bloke from spain drinks a spanish drink, which he probably doesn't, I think we're all aware of that.

My common sense is fully functioning.

racism [show phonetics]

noun (UK OLD-FASHIONED racialism) DISAPPROVING

the belief that people's qualities are influenced by their race and that the members of other races are not as good as the members of your own, or the resulting unfair treatment of members of other races:

ie the quality of being able to adapt to something.

DT it may not be what you think racism is but as you'll see. It is racism, an un-argueable fact.
