We have to do something about midfield...it is just killing us...it does not help defensively, it does not help attack.

Slow, ponderous, no legs, no physicality, does not win enough tackles, leaves huge gaps - gets outrun and outfought too much.

It is just a black hole in the team.

We won that tonight despite it.

Well that was about as far from convincing as you get.

Very food first 40 minutes, but from that it just got worse as the game went on. Last 30 minutes was terrible.

Very happy about the result, but the same problems we’ve had all season was back in the second half, and only a combination og luck, Alisson, Milner and poor finishing from the opponent made us hold on to the win.

Great cameo from Milner.

Got us 2 points with the late tackle, and settled midfield a bit.

Subs were mad. Trent was very poor. Curtis was a non entity. The brittleness in the team is far from gone.

Jones has barely played in six months so I’d cut him some slack. Sad state of affairs that we’ve to play him into fitness and form in real games after the Arthur fiasco.

Wins a win and sometimes a dire one nil win is a good thing. Clean sheet in the bag which is a confidence booster.

I do think we got away with this one though and with more clinical finishing we’d have had three or four.

Much work to still do but let’s go to forest and beat these and move on from that.

Declan Rice is a top notch midfielder, a dominant player with a good eye for a pass and he gets around the pitch very well. I’d take him in a heartbeat.

Have to wait until January. Let’s hope we can do something, I reckon we are gonna go for Caicedo. He’d add a lot to the side.

Everyone moaning about the subs - you do realise there’s a near certainty of further injuries if we play the same XI for every minute of every game? Particularly with Thiago?

Klopp took a risk with the changes. Three points - that means he was right, regardless of how ugly it was, and of course Thiago and Nunez are relatively fresh for Saturday.

Agreed in hindsight but if we'd conceded I doubt you'd be saying the same!

We need more than just him in midfield.  Could do with a right back who can defend if we're sticking with Gomez at centreback as well.

Thought Fabinho was comfortably our worst midfielder, and Trent comfortably our worst defender. (Although he did pick some wonderful passes.) Henderson, well, that was an improvement on his recent form.

Trent on the right of that 4-4-2 could work you know. Elliott won't play every game and it's a waste having Salah there.

That was absolutely fucking brutal but a huge 3pts and we might need a few more wins like that between now & the World Cup with such a shit midfield & our defence & attack both starting to look very stretched.

For all the stick Nunez gets, that's 3 goals in 3 starts and we look like a far more dangerous team when he is on the park. Some of his 'bad technique' on display again with the headed goal and the volley off the post.
