Do Brexit voters think it's gone badly?

Anything that has gone badly has been framed as France and Germany wanting to punish us for leaving. Much like a duck imprinting on the first thing it sees, some people seem incapable of altering their viewpoint, despite overwhelming evidence to the contrary. Boris Johnson being another case in point.

With the London Mayoral election coming up, the Tories have decided to use London's apparently dying nightlife as a theme to attack Khan on. Thing is, apart from them highlighting streets that have never had much in the way of bars and clubs, I'm wondering who exactly they're hoping to win over, given the average Tory is over 60 and, in London, lives in the suburbs.

London is pretty dead at the minute and guess you’re right in it being about money.

Its about £7/8 a pint as standard now.

Me and a mate went out in Notting Hill a few weeks back and were generally surprised to see places bouncing.

Hospitality has been fucked all over the country since freedom of movement ended, with it's own knock on effects on the economy then the economy itself collapsing of course.  No money to socialise even if places could get the staff. A total fuck up.

Aside from the obvious that there is less money around, we have lived with an almost stagnent, nor receding economy, Central London has been much quieter since the pandemic. But that's because lots of people's lifestyles have changed and they spend far more time where they live than where they work or central areas meeting people from across London after work.

There are a lot of tweets pointing out Goodge St is mainly used by office workers after work, and that it’s always been dead by about 9.30pm. Some funny piss-take tweets under that as well.

The hordes of rampaging Muslamics on their hate marches are surely a bigger factor than nobody having any fucking money?

These days if you say you're English they'll arrest you and throw you in jail.

I think that would be true midweek. Weekends were different though. Loads of students and tourists end up round there.

Kemi Badarnoch, the Tories great hope. Industry secretary, take a bow. Now we will have to import more steel from abroad at the cost decided elsewhere. Little in this country gets built without steel.

Nothing to do with Brexit these closures, it's an excuse which gets the government off the hook.. If the government were willing to pay to subsidise, at least one of the furnaces could still be firing until the inevitable electrification was fazed in.. Better still would have been to bite the bullet and take British steel back into public hands. They could have shed 800 or so jobs voluntarily, so the impact would not have been so hard.

Farming Today is the best show at the minute.

The script of every episode is ‘Fuck the Tories’ repeatedly, it’s glorious.

This morning was bleak though 60/70% of farmers are on family tax benefits now as the post Brexit squeeze and costs have made the hand to mouth existence for most.

They have been told that they need to move over to Universal Credit, which has a different way of calculating needs.

So as the farmers are annual cycle earners they work on feast and famine and plan accordingly using the in work benefits to help them through the most fallow.

Now at fallow times they’re being told to find work and having sanctions if they don’t, as they are now assessed on a weekly basis, as they don’t meet the criteria.

Everything the Tories touch turns to shit.
