FSG are not shit

The only risks FSG will take is whether to sign up Wendy's or Waffle House as our official breakfast partner

A club who won the Champions League 10 years earlier and has a ground of 80k is still mighty relative to Mainz.

All this is taken from Klopp's comments on our transfers and Dortmunds, he's said their is very little if any difference.

Until we get a Monchi or a Zorc, we'll continue to make mistakes, and Klopp will too now that he doesn't have that stabilising factor.

Other than name recognition what do people actually know of Monchi and Zorc. For a start their roles are different at their respective clubs so depending on who you signed would depend on how you structured everything.

Would people expect Monchi to come in and replicate what he does at Sevilla, if so it would require a complete change in supporter expectations and a fair amount of patience for it to work or , as we see with Klopp, at the first sign of trouble do we demand he changes everything.

Would you be happy if he came in and we bought 4 players you'd never heard of because in 2 years time they couldnbe world beaters or are we going to be on those players backs because they aren't world beaters now.

Would we be happy that we didn't sign the forums flavour of the month because based on the numbers Monchi thinks what we percieve to be aninferior player is a better fit for what we're trying to do.

I have no problems with the idea behind an appointment like Monchi, my concern would be us.

The problem with bringing in Monchi is twofold. Firstly clubs increase the price when we come in for a player because they know the Premier League is flush with cash. There's no way he'd get the same deals he did for Sevilla for us. We'd be paying at least double for the same players.

Secondly he brings in lots of South American players, the work permit rules are much easier for La Liga than they are here with the FA.

Also as an aside, he'd have to navigate FSG, who'll hamper his ability to do his job by setting arbitrary restrictions on him like demanding payers be within a certain age range or requiring them to have Premier League experience.

so are stats statistically proven to trump envelopes and encouragement tweets from strangers to players?

i want the evidence.

failing all that, just buy 4 Italian defenders for a start off. i've worked out they're particularly good at that job which we seem to regularly have trouble with. Italians strike me as specialists in that position, going on the eyes

Monchi works because of the restrictions not inspite of them. He'll have been working with far tighter guidelines at Sevilla.

Well let's give him a crack with our Bostonian Baseballers then, just for a laugh.

Monchi? What for?

Get Stevie to text Kroos again. Genius.

Trust Stevie to mis-type the number, and then of all the mobile phone numbers in existence, he accidently texts Balotelli instead

He doesn't have a lot of restrictions, barre financially. He can basically sign who he wants, irrespective of age, irrespective of work permit issues and all the big clubs have no problem selling to them. It's different with us.

Besides the talent spotting aspect of this football club is one of the only things that doesn't need to change. We've identified players like Mkhitaryan, Willian, Salah, Diego Costa, Icardi, Lacazette, Guerreiro, O.Dembele, Alli in the past. The problem isn't identifying the players that'll improve us it's the owners not spending the money necessary or fucking up deals through their own frugality.

I'm talking board enforced restrictions as that's what i thought you were getting at with your last paragraph.

In fairness, the scouts do seem to do a decent enough job at identifying the players. As stated before, it's the closing of the deal that is Liverpool's achilles heel. If a player is wavering, the club will not go all out and make him and offer he can't refuse. Instead, they'll pout, complain that the player has the wrong motivations, and walk away.

Diego Costa for example. Costa doesn't give much of a fuck about Chelsea. Costa just cares about money. He'll be off the China at the next opportunity. However, despite how much of a cunt he is, he'll have won them two league titles by the time he reaches Shanghai. I think I could live with a player like that at LFC.

Didn't Costa turn us down?

I genuinely thought we were going to sign those four. The way the press were covering then they were virtually done deals. Chelsea shot us out of the water for 3 of them and Klopp nabbed the other.

Does suggest we arent incapable of going for the right player but it seems as though we somehow manage to alert other clubs to their availability who come in and wrap up the deal in 24 hours

Or don't want (to pay them or for) them enough.

Yes, because we didn't wave enough money under his nose.

And a promise from Mourinho.

If a player has to be convinced to sign for you with bags of cash it's not really a player you want at your club and you can't be suprised when he does the same thing a few years later.

It'll be interesting to see what happens in China in that regard and how it affects the players involved if they stay for an extended period.

We offer lower wages to players coming from overseas. This goes back to FSG and their risk assessment. Do they in their risk/reward model weight that the player might fail in England and are very conservative.

Only two players coming from overseas have been taken on more than 70k, Matip on a free and ironically Balotelli who had played in England previously. When Suarez joined he was on 35k, similar for Coutinho.

The likes of Origi, Aspas, Alberto, Moreno etc have all been on lower wages.

They are scared to get their fingers burnt.
