Psychoville and Inside No 9 had somewhat obscured my memories of just how talented an actor Gatiss is, which is even stranger given his cameo in the former.

 

Maybe it's just because I've not seen anything else he's done bar The League while I've watched the other two absolutely shine, but these specials have brought it all flooding back. Tremendous.

Hopefully they get just the right part for him in a future Inside No 9.

You really can't pick a favourite out of the 3 actors, they are all brilliant and they all have their own great characters.

 

Shearsmith and Pemberton did an interview on Adam Buxtond podcast a few months ago and they said they had loads of material so I think there's a good chance of some more episodes.

Gatiss has been concentrating on writing and producing I think. Seems to be involved with Dr Who quite a lot and heavily involved with Sherlock, even plays Mycroft Holmes.

S3 isn't very good because they changed the format but probably worth watching for some back story.

 

It works so much better as a sketch show which they have gone back to for these specials.

Each to their own, like, but I think S3 is the best for the same reason you don't rate it.

Only just found out about Inside Number 9 from this thread, it's fantastic. They are genuinely inventive, unique and versatile actors and writers.

Started watching this again tonight after my ‘bummers are deaf’ tag went straight over Stig’s head in that Sheikh thread. I had series one on VHS back in the day and must have watched it ten times at least. Watched the first three episodes tonight and it dawned on me just how many throwaway lines from the show I’ve taken to using quite often in real life. 
 

I do actually say “It’s fine” all the time in the exact way Benjamin’s uncle does in his first scene. 

Pauline’s “Piss off” I’ve used loads as well. 

 

Also “Semen is such a persistent stain” is something I use to take the piss out of the boy on occasion when he’s taking too long in the bathroom. 

“AND YOU’RE ALL GONNA LAUGH.” I use that all the time. 
 

“Buck your ideas up. Knuckle down.” I say that jokingly to my kids in Pauline’s voice. 
 

I say “It just tastes so good” in that Yorkshire accent. 
 

That’s just from the first couple of episodes. Fucking hell. What’s wrong with me?
