Great win, despite Jair putting it all down to Indian  captaincy.

Ha, not sure I put it all down to Indian captaincy. We, and obviously Pope and Hartley in particular, were excellent. Showed some stones, and showed some intelligence. Rohit was fucking appalling in the field though. There is no way this England batting line up should be scoring 400 plus on that wicket against that bowling attack. It's so infrequent that he needs to do much in the field as a captain that he doesn't know what to do when things aren't going their way. It was like Root at home on the rare days where Broad and Anderson couldn't make a break through.

Sarfaraz Khan has been called up to the Indian squad. He's 26, averages 70 in the Ranji Trophy. He's good. His brother Musheer who is only 18 looks phonemenal though. Just seen him score 131 in the U19 World Cup against New Zealand. Something will have gone seriously wrong if he doesn't end up having a good test career.

Haven't seen a player look as good on test debut for a while as Sarfaraz Khan. Brought up his 50 from 48 balls. Sadly, I'd imagine were he Hindu rather than Muslim he'd have made his debut a few years ago. He averages 70 in first class cricket.

Still just following the series from a distance, a bit of TMS and otherwise just scorecards. Looks like there's a proper match on, unless it turns to be England hiding behind a single good knock.

They're making a series out of it, no mean feat.

Bashir and Ahmed proving their talent, shame that they'll be always fighting it out over a single spot for most of their home careers. But I guess we're seeing the guard change, which is what's needed.

Root and Bairstow have been useless in these tests. Bad,bad performance all round here though. There are times when you can be a little more reserved and use your fucking brain.

Before this bazball bollocks Root was averaging nearly 50 in test cricket at nearly a run a ball.

There was absolutely no need for him to change anything about his game.

This is all about Stokes fucking ego, nothing else.

I agree it’s fucking ridiculous at times, plan B seems to be more of plan A.

How dare you criticise the cult.

The weird thing is that Stokes is actually the only one who plays himself in slowly. The Root situation is ridiculous, he should be the anchor for the rest of the batting line-up to fire around. Bairstow should be shot from a cannon, a very wide cannon.

To be fair however  the Stokes era has been exceptional overall and don't forget how poor the side's form was when he took over.

The problem with any painting by numbers type system is no-one is capable of adapting when required. As you've all said, Root is too good to be doing this shit.

But the reason I call it a cult is because it has gone far beyond any other way of playing. Any criticism of it is meant with "You don't get it". The public announcements of "we'll chase 600" before getting bowled out for 122, or saying Jaiswal's innings are because he's following in the footsteps of England, just look fucking ridiculous.

It's great it's more positive, both in terms of overall style/philosophy of play, and in creating an atmosphere which is easier for players to come in to, but if we're getting pumped by literally the widest margin in the history of Indian cricket perhaps taking your fucking licks is called for.

Stokes if he doesn’t bowl is he really worth his place currently? That experienced middle order has been pretty bad this series. I think Bairstow should go for the returning Brooks and ‘ Bazball ‘ needs a time and a place. As Mudface alluded a spectacular collapse even by our standards.
