Watched A Late Quartet, pleasant surprise, 7/10.

Drama from 2012 about characters in a string quartet with great cast and good writing which managed to get me interested and even a little touched despite the type of high brow film about New York culturati you'd expect Wallace Shawn to feature in.

Walken, Hoffman, Keener, what more do you want?

Never watched Wolf of Wall Street, and despite the presence of the heavenly Margot Robbie I have no intention of doing so.

It doesn't appeal to me in any way, shape or form.

Same with stuff like the Godfather trilogy, Goodfellas, Casino etc etc. Just don't float my boat.

Honestly, try The Godfather.  I thought it was not my cup of tea either, for example I think Goodfellas is pretty shite, Casino average.  But The Godfather (& 2) is nothing like them, it's not even really about the mob. It's about family. It's perfection.

Casino is brilliant,Goodfellas decent but The Godfather 1 and 2 are cinematic masterpieces.

Absolutely, and barely the same genre as Casino and Goodfellas (which do nothing for me) and definitely nowhere near the same ballpark. To the two fellas on here who've not bothered with this epic of storytelling, give them a try and report back!

Mrs Willard is obsessed with that film. The other day we took a big detour to see a road on the White City estate that featured in the film.

Leslie Ash used to be the woman every boy wanted to meet in an alleyway.  Now she's the woman nobody wants to meet in a dark alleyway.

Went to the Regent cinema in Marple last night to watch Wicked Little Letters. Enjoyable comedy with the ever dependable Olivia Coleman, Timothy Spall and Jessie Buckley. 7/10. The cinema is great, fiver to get in, break at half time for ice cream tubs at £2 a pop and we are usually among the youngest in the place, so 9/10 for the venue.

I watched that last night at everyman in Harrogate and just came here to say how much I enjoyed it. I'd probably edge a little higher than your 7, but no more than 8.

Had no idea what it was about going in but really enjoyed it a lot. Read up about it after as it's an interesting tale.

No interval, annoying pep talk before it starts, expensive beer and a couple on the couch next to me who thought they were at home - she went for two pisses and he fell asleep and snored 3 or 4 times, and they chatted regularly to bring each other up to speed on bits they'd missed. The piss country bitches.

Dune 2

Loved it. If I as going to critique - the emperor should have been like the 80’s original…. sorry, but Christopher Walken, whilst being a boss actor, ain’t no universal emperor and the other one being it felt rushed at the end, seems odd for a film at 2hrs 40-ish, but the last hour or so, felt rushed.

Anyway, sound as, and I’ll undoubtedly go and watch it again.

Saw that this afternoon, absolutely brilliant, I actually got goosebumps at some points. The Chani stuff near the end was a bit annoying and superfluous, but the rest was astonishingly good- 9.5/10.

Poor Things

A wild ride, Emma Stone is fantastic as naive Bella Baxter, setting forth to experience life away from her "God" Willem Dafoe.

I won't spoil it for you but Poor Things is out there, graphic and very funny.

8/10
