Oooooooooh!!! Sorry, mardy arse. I reckon the now confirmed escape clause, in the context of our new found transfer loot, make it worthy of debate.

Im not trying to be a mardy arse but we know opinion on here is almost evenly divided on this matter and both sides have very strong views and as you know Id have him nowhere near the club on ethical and injury grounds, its only a matter of time before this thread ends ups being all out war.

He's an injury crock. That's the only grounds I wouldn't have him back. Yeah, he joined Madrid, everyone makes mistakes and you forgive that. But I don't see the logic in signing a player who will spend more time in the injury room than he will on the pitch, unless Rafa bought shares in BUPA or something.

With Rush, he had brothers on the Dole and for the amount of money Juve were offering he himself said he'd be daft to turn it down.

Comparisons with Owen could never stand up under that rationale.

It didn't actually come out of the blue for Rush, he'd been trying to engineer a move for over a year.

I'd like a striker that stays healthy.

unfortunatly thats not possible, they all get injured at some point in there careers. owen hadnt had a big op untill he joined newcastle & as someone else has already stated, look at giggs & the injuries he's had, he will go down as one of uniteds best ever players!

I voted "no". I don´t care about this not giving him a second chance. I´m worried he wouldn´t be good enough. His game has always been about speed, with the injuries he´s had and his age I´m worried he, like Robbie, would be a shadow of what he was, only never as good a finisher as Robbie still is.

I´d prefer some fresh blood.

The only operation Owen has had in his WHOLE career is the cruciate ligament one. Any player can suffer with a broken foot if some lard arse stands on it, Robinson anyone?

Owen hasn't had many injuries in the last couple of seasons with us and real so I really find it amusing people say he's an injury waiting to happen.

Buy him back? Yes, I'd even let freddie shepherd carry him back to us!

Oh and fuck off Spartacus!

I'd pay no more than 3 million after his injuries as it would be a massive gamble, I would have been excited by any Owen talk before the takeover, but now we should - and will - be aiming higher, a great servant to the club while he was here, but its time to move on.

I'm amazed at how many people have voted yes. I genuinely didn't expect to see that. £9 million for a player who is never fit? And these are probably the same ones who are saying Kewell should be out the door in the summer...

Split nearly 50/50 in the vote.

The more I think about it id take him back for 9m. He'd come back tail between his legs and Rafa would be boss. If he came out and said I made a mistake I should never of left then even better.

If he stayed fit id take him, can he stay fit? For 9m id take the risk.

I cant see him staying at Newcastle after Pie arses little circus act in the press.

If we're to have any chance of winning the league we're going to have to score more goals.

part of that for me would be to have at least one of our centre forwards in or around the box for a change.

Absobloodyexactly. I've shouted myself hoarse for the past two seasons about there being no support in the box for crosses or hoofed balls. Owen eats, sleeps and shits in the box. (LEGAL NOTE: Not in the porno way)

NO chance. What ever happened over the last few years, it doesn't seem to be it was meant to be. Taking into account his injuries, 9 million is too much of a gamble, even though I enjoyed his goals, especially his goal in the FA cup against the Arsenal.

Still can't make my mind up after reading all the preceeding comments.

There is no doubt that, as Arse Wenger put it, "he's a great fox in the box", something which we currently need.

However, I'm not quite conviced that Rafa would have him back.

I agree with the above that he's hardly the most injury prone out there. Everyone is making out like he's an Anderton or Redknapp which he isn't. He's had a cruiciate ligament problem for a season which could happen to anyone and only played a bit part at Real due to Ronaldo and Raul being favourites.

Is his hammy still an issue tho??

I still don't like the idea that he puts county before club and alway will. Will he have learnt not to shit on his own doorstep? Probably not.

Not as I'm aware. Last I heard it was screaming for a running wheel and pissed off with its yellow and red house!

Ungrateful bastard hammys!
