Agreed on most of this, but he has lived with mental health issues which probably makes his career choices incompatible with his personal ones. The fact he's been able to hit those heights with those issues is nothing short of astounding.

Oh I know he's had his struggles mate but you see his punditry sometimes and he's horrible. He knows what he's doing and sometimes it just comes across as fake. Most of the players on the tour can't stand him, or Jimmy White. Little bully boys club. The only two who just shrug and fuck them off are John and Mark Williams because they've had it all their career with them. 

 

Her uncle who works the football did the NI open a couple of years back and saw first hand what them two are like in the studio, to staff, to other players... Cockney bellends. 

 

I think Jimmy leads it though. Ronnie can be really sound sometimes maybe it's just a persona I don't know but it pisses me off.

This seems to happen across the board with former players in most sports. It's either something they think they need to do or someone is telling them to do it - more likely thinking about it is a combination of the two.

The Snooker board hate him doing interviews. It's Eurosport who pay him because he's box office. He's even said he'd rather get paid to sit there and slag the game off than play sometimes. 

 

Part of his charm. I definitely think he throws a few early frames to make it interesting for himself. Then when he loses he either complains about the table or says he's "Only here for the running" or the venues shit.

He probably looked up to Alex Higgins rather than Steve Davis, same as Jimmy White. I’m sure Higgins was involved in some really dark shit, makes anyone else pale in comparison.
