I watched Terminator 2 at the cinema and it was the best by far.

Worst film, probably Judge Dredd, the Stallone version.

Not a big fan of the cinema in general, mainly because people annoy me and there always seems to be at least one person that will piss me off whilst I'm trying to enjoy the film.

I agree. I used to have an unllimited Cineworld card for £15 per month which could be used to watch as many films per month. The other benefit was there was no set seating so if I sat down and immediately realised there would be distractions, it was easy just to move somewhere else. That benefit was taken away so my payment was stopped when the next time I went there was a group of kids in the cinema laughing, joking, throwing food. Joke.

I actually wonder how successful cinemas will be in the future as there are other things people have obviously missed a lot but I don't hear many people say "I can't wait to get back to the cinema".

Best: Mesrine 1 & 2. Part 1 was on in the afternoon. Loved it so much, we stumped up for the evening showing of Part 2. Went round the corner for a couple of pints and a burger and popped back in. Also, The Shining with 2000 other cinemagoers in Leeds Town Hall.

Worst: Jaws 4.

Fantasy: One Flew Over The Cuckoo's Nest in The Hyde Park Picture House

Best: The Hyde Park Picture House which is ten minutes walk from our house. Feel so lucky having this gem on our doorstep.

Was this prompted by the awesome Edgar Wright and Tarantino Empire podcast?  Three hours of them basically recommending films.

Best: Seeing Fellowship of the Ring reach right into my childhood imagination and put it all out there was an incredible experience. Independence Day and Goldeneye blew my mind as a kid as well. More recently Parasite was special and the first time I saw a Ghibli (Nausicaa I think) was on the big screen and felt like an amazing discovery from start to finish. Oh, and Up. Can't imagine not seeing that in the cinema for the first time.

Worst: Matrix 2, Attack of the clones, The Hills Have Eyes remake was offensively shit as well.

Wish: I'd really love to see Suspiria on the big screen one day.

Best Cinema: I like smaller screens in nice odd buildings, so Picturehouse's fit the bill for me. Duke's at Komedia in the Brighton Lanes and hipster's choice Prince Charles Cinema in London. Exeter Picturehouse is nice too.

Always felt like a treat when you got directed to the tiny screen at the top of Leicester Square Odeon as well. On the larger side of things, Cardiff Cineworld was like home away from home while I was at uni.

Also went to an Everyman for the first time just before lockdown 1, was good enough to make me want to start going regularly again.

I went to see The Joker in the Everyman Cinema in town. Went to a matinée showing and there were two other people in the auditorium.

It was boss. I felt like I was a pop star on MTV Cribs who's got their own cinema room in their flashy house.

You can’t beat an empty or near empty cinema, it’s miles better than watching a film at home. I haven’t been for years but I’d go during the week, in the afternoon.

I watched pulp fiction probably five times in the cinema and in no way was that a bad thing.

That's when I used to go. Being self employed means it's possible to take an afternoon off, couldn't beat a movie experience then. Walking out to sunshine was always a bit weird after a dark room though.

Beat film seen? Life of Brian (there was a double bill with that and National Lampoon's Animal House and it seemed like half the sixth form turned up for it, cracking night). more recently, Interstellar.

Worst film? Gulliver's Travels with Jack Black- horrendous, and I didn't even manage a kip.

Which film do you wish to see in a good cinema? Inception, only ever seen it on a TV.

Beat cinema you've been in? Dunno, they're all much of a muchness these days.

Best film seen - probably Interstellar on IMAX. Dark Knight IMAX was a great experience though.

Worst film? Tough one. Probably Semi Pro with Will Ferrell. Terrible.

Wish I'd gone to see Dunkirk.

Loved the old 051 cinema in town. Best film I saw there was David Lynch's Lost Highway.

I'd no interest in the Lord of the Rings, but months after the first one came out the Showcase put on a one off bank holiday showing. Me and my younger brother went and we were the only people there!

Best film: Airplane. Me and a mate were in tears laughing throughout and going home from that.

Worst: When Harry Met Sally. THere was a trailer that did the rounds showing some woman seemingly having an orgasm in a cafe. That was the only remotely funny piece in the whole film (no idea if it was meant to be a funny film).

Utter shite.

Best film: The Warriors, I was very young and I have never been so blown away by a film.

Worst  film: High Test Girls.  That was pretty disappointing on all possible levels.

Wish: properly restored print of uncut The Battle of Neretva in any good cinema. You wouldn't know that one.

Best cinema experience instead of best cinema: I saw Three Days of the Condor at some retrospective once, probably Redford's, and I didn't know anything about that film at the time, I think I confused it with All the President's Men. So, what I learnt that day is that you can increase your enjoyment of a film exponentially if you manage not to know anything about it in advance, because it is largely about expectations. It was a rainy afternoon, I had nothing better to do, and I didn't expect anything. I have not been so thoroughly entertained at the movies since.

There's a smaller Picture House down here which is where we prefer to go, not that often mind. It shows old classics about once a month which is good to see on the Big screen eg The Big Sleep.

I myself never watch blockbuster shite especially after the horrendous lengthy experience of Titanic.

I remember me and the mates on magic mushrooms going to see Apocalypse Now at the one opposite the Adelphi, 051 club one, that was an experience.

Probably a draw between Star Wars, just because, well, non one had seen a film like that before and I'd say the other being Guardians of the Galaxy - and both purely for the cinematic experience. SW was in the London Road Odeon, which was the cinema to watch a film in back in the day and then Liverpool 1 for GOTG, and we went to the Imax, fuck-off screen room, which was just mind blowing. Screens seem all the same as that now, so its just the norm, I guess.

WF

The Showcase on the end of the lancs, for every film. Its piss poor and I've always hated it. Trampy place.

WFDYWTSIAGC

Jaws or Poltergeist, digitally re-mastered on that mad fuck off screen in Liverpool 1. Oh yes!

BCYBI

The Royalty Cinema Bowness.

Not the biggest screen, not the best sound, certainly not the best seats and not the best atmosphere, however, back in those heady days of her pregnant and me taking her the cinema during a weekend away - the only cinema that was then, still allowing you to walk to the chocolate and sweetie stand, pick your sweets and then re-join the ticket queue, to pay for your sweeties. God I loved that cinema. The Fifth Element was on that weekend and we went twice and I must have put half a stone on and created three cavities in me teeth. Scousers eh.

Best film? Hard to think as there have been a lot of excellent ones. The one that stands out a little is The Matrix, purely because of how seeing it came about. My friends had all wanted to see the new Star Wars whereas I wanted to see this. We compromised and went to see both in the same week. Everyone was disappointed with the new George Lucas film whereas everyone came out of the cinema after Neo and co's adventures thinking they'd seen a watershed moment in not just sci-fi but in cinema as a whole.

Worst film? Hands down, it's Nothing To Lose. Not my idea to see it, and it remains the only film I've ever walked out of. Martin Lawrence and Tim Robbins in a film that both would rather forget about. Shite.

Film I would like to see in a decent cinema? The Dollars Trilogy at the art deco Phoenix in East Finchley. That place is a gem, a real old school experience.

Best cinema I've ever been in? I'd choose one of several art deco ones had I actually seen anything in them, but I guess I'd say Odeon Leicester Square. It's not really that much of a cut above the newer multiplexes but it is a bit of a landmark, plus I went and saw Casino Royale there a couple of weeks after it was released. It seemed like the right place to watch that.
