Spurs owners showing ambition. As well as every other club

Spurs are doing what they did when they sold Bale spending the money before the sale is done.
Last day of the transfer window Kane will go to City.

Drinkwater was left out of the squad last year - there is no chance he makes it this year.

Correct - Chong is on loan this coming season.

Doesn't matter.

When the public calls for Drinkwater to be included, I will include Drinkwater.

A man of the people, I am.

Inter now saying they’re not selling Martinez after offloading Lukaku to Chelsea. Possible disappointment for Spurs and Arsenal.

Talk earlier in the summer, and part of the reason Conte left, was that due to Suning's various financial problems they had to sell one big player, reduce the wage bill by 15% and limit spending. Hakimi went to PSG early in the window for that reason.

Lukaku strikes me as a too good to turn down offer (with them looking at Zapata or Dzeko as a replacement and rejecting 2 or 3 very good bids prior to this). The rumours last night about the situation worsening and everyone being for sale seemed odd as they've pretty much raised 200 million from the sale of two players.

They're likely to sell there best player and club captain.

I imagine you'd be coming at it from a slightly different angle if that was us.

Our dumb cunts just let our best midfielder go for free and won't offer our Captain a new deal

Fantastic insight, as per usual.

Thanks for this telling contribution.

Wijnaldum was many things, but our best midfielder isn't one of them.

Agreed, but he was second best if you want ability and reliability.  Apart from Fabinho there's not a single other midfielder on that list who you would hang your hat on to make a telling contribution on the pitch.

He wasn’t our best midfielder by some distance I’d say. Fabinho is. Henderson arguably more important/influential and lets be honest, If we were signing Thiago as his replacement this window none of us would be arsed. Gini was made out of titanium and was our most consistent midfielder, never less than a 6/10 rarely better than 8/10. We’ll miss him but we’ve lost far better players and kicked on.

We’ve had a year to see how fucking shite Thiago would be as a Wijnaldum replacement.

We’re a much weaker team without our most reliable and consistent midfielder.

I'd always be concerned about losing a player of Wijnaldum's ability to keep possession and get us out of trouble in midfield.

And now I've seen a year of Thiago at LFC I'm even more concerned (still too early to judge though, he might come good this year).

Henderson is great on and off the pitch, but he's not reliable and with his age will probably get less reliable.

Milner should never start a match for us in midfield, though he's a good sub to bring on when you need experience towards the end of a match.

Oxlade-Chamberlain has never been a central midfielder and never will be, even if you could get him in the pitch regularly which we can't.

Jones has a lot to prove, jury is very much out whether hell make it at LFC or not.

The less said about Keita the better, such a disappointment.

Thiago carried the midfield in the run home on his own IMO. By far our best midfielder in that period.

I’m by no means making a case for not signing another first team ready midfielder considering the injury proneness of the ones already here. I’d throw the bank at Bellingham but I reckon if £50m would get him he’d be a City/Chelsea/United player by now. No chance we’d go higher than that. All the signs point to Klopp having his heart set on Neuhaus and we all know he’s willing to wait.

Wijnaldum was ever present pretty much throughout his time with us.

Outside of what you may assume will be the first choice 3 of Fabinho, Hendo and Thiago the minutes in there are going to have to be shared between the extremely unreliable Keita and Oxlade, an aged Milner and the as yet still unproven and developing Jones and maybe Elliott.

There is absolutely no real evidence to suggest we will be as well off in that scenario, and if it is a case of constant change in there because of lack of availability what does that do to our stability, consistency and cohesion in the middle of the park.

The first choice 3 in there as good as they are are hardly indestructible - Thiago is already talking about a long term issue he is carrying and i'd wager Fabinho and Hendo will miss at least a quarter of our games.

In my view we need to bring in a midfielder and another attacking option hopefully to replace Origi.

I'd feel we were as well set as we could be then.

Not doing either leaves us winging it a bit for my money and relying on players who have frankly not been reliable for too long.
