Liverpool 2 Tottenham 2 (Feb 4 2018)

So you could conceivably leave a forward x number of yards over the half way line all the time, boot the ball off an opposition player (admittedly rather skillfully) and the forward would be onside? That's lunacy.

Great report 100% agree with all of that.

Even my 9 year old picked up on the high boot that wasn’t even a booking when the same ref sent off Mane.

Also the Ben Davies tackle not even a free kick but then gives those 2 penalties mind boggling.

End of the game my lad was in tears because he was on such a high after the Salah goal then felt cheated.

Got to admit made me feel proud to one extent that it means that much to him but on the other hand he is going to have his mood for the week dictated by our results which I’m not sure is a good thing

Yep all part and parcel of why I don't trust them on VAR, BT had Chris Foy blaming Anfield's lack of a big screen on why the fans didn't know what was going on.  Like Liverpool fans don't know when to look for a ref or lino's signal (and what the signals mean)...

To be fair with the amount of half scarf wearing, Liverworld carrier bag laden, selfie stick carrying tourists inside Anfield these days that isn't an unfair shout.

A player in an offside position is only penalised if, at the moment the ball touches or is played by one of his team, he is, in the opinion of the referee, involved in active play by: • interfering with play or • interfering with an opponent or • gaining an advantage by being in that position

The above is an extract from the latest rules from the FIFA Website, that fuck head was definitely gaining an advantage so even though there may have been a touch from Lovren, he was offside at the moment the ball was played, there is nothing else in the rules about offside that back up the crap those knobs were going on with

If the rule has changed from the above, which is as most knew the rule to be they (whoever they are?!?) need to come out and say there has been a rule change if not they need to say it was a mistake because nobody knows what the fuck is going on now.

Dermot Gallagher isn’t helping matters either with his cryptic interpretation of the rule.

Just by the way things tend to go you can guarantee within the next week or two there will be a mirror incident where the linesman flags for offside. The refs will then either come up with some bullshit excuse as to why that incident is different or even worse they will say that decision is wrong because they’ve backed themselves into a corner with this one meaning going forward that’s the rule and we just have to put up with it.

This minimal contact therefore it's a penalty thing is horseshit the intention of Alli, Kane, and lamella is the same to dive and get a penalty the fact that there is a tiny amount of contact is neither here nor there. All three should have been booked for diving not just one.

Just spotted this

The Premier League was last night under pressure to commission an independent investigation into Jon Moss’s handling of the dramatic climax to Liverpool’s Premier League draw with Tottenham after his bosses failed to explain his potentially-illegal request for “TV” assistance.

Referee Moss avoided any action over an exchange with assistant Ed Smart and fourth official Martin Atkinson which was caught on microphone during Sunday’s explosive 2-2 draw at Anfield and in which he said: “Martin, have you got anything from TV?”

Moss had been discussing with Smart the first of two penalties awarded to Spurs and whether Dejan Lovren had played Harry Kane onside by attempting to clear the ball.

Match officials are forbidden from using television footage to check decisions other than when trials of Video Assistant Referees are taking place, with Sunday’s incident reminiscent of Zinedine Zidane’s sending-off in the 2006 World Cup final, which Fifa has always denied derived from replays being used to alert the referee to his headbutt on Marco Materazzi.

There was an identical response on Monday from Professional Game Match Officials Ltd, which described Moss’s comments as “misguided” but failed to explain them.

That led its former general manager, Keith Hackett, to call for an independent investigation to get to the truth, declaring the incident had “opened up a can of worms”.

Revealing he would have suspended Moss were the referee to have been shown to have sought television assistance during his own time in charge, Hackett told The Telegraph: “A more detailed investigation needs to take place, independent of the PGMOL, to determine why Jon Moss referenced specifically his fourth official and television.

“They can’t just dismiss it as a slip of the tongue. That’s glossing over.”

PGMOL denied Atkinson had viewed television footage or relayed any information about the incident to the on-field officials amid accusations on social media he had watched a pitchside monitor near Geoff Shreeves, who was covering the match for Sky Sports.

Shreeves told The Telegraph on Monday it would have been “impossible” for Atkinson to have sight of the monitor.

PGMOL also said the match was not part of the ‘non-live’ VAR trials that have been conducted in the Premier League for the past two seasons, in which the video assistant is not meant to communicate with the referee.

The emergence of Moss’s comments is likely to further infuriate Liverpool manager Jürgen Klopp, who was livid with both penalty awards and claimed the referee admitted afterwards making “a mistake” for the first of them.

Moss was also the fourth official Klopp alleged earlier in the week had told him BT Sport had cut short added time in Liverpool’s FA Cup defeat by West Bromwich Albion.

The German’s claims were disputed by both BT Sport and PGMOL.

Moss’s eventual decision to award Sunday’s first penalty divided the refereeing community, with Hackett and Mark Clattenburg declaring Kane should have been flagged offside in the build-up and Graham Poll stating the opposite.

PGMOL said on Monday that Moss had correctly interpreted the Laws of the Game, which state a player is not offside if “receiving the ball from an opponent who deliberately plays the ball”.

In response to suggestions Lovren’s touch on the ball was not deliberate because he mishit his clearance, PGMOL said: “The interpretation of ‘deliberately’ kicking a ball considers whether a player has intentionally tried to kick a ball - it does not consider whether the ball ends up where a player may have wanted to kick it.”

But Hackett produced a document containing guidance from football’s rulemaking body, the International Football Association Board, which states a player is offside if he “makes an obvious action which clearly impacts on the ability of an opponent to play the ball”.

He said: “For me, the actions of Kane standing in an offside position interfered with the actions of Lovren.”

Hackett called on IFAB to urgently clarify the correct interpretation of the laws. “We’ve got a number of match officials, senior match officials, around the world who are in disagreement with the interpretation of the offside law,” he said.

“We ought to see clarification from the IFAB on this particular decision, to ensure there is an independent view.

“The IFAB need to ensure, for the good of the game, that this interpretation of law is correct, and whether their view is that it should be amended in the future.”

I was equally flabberghasted listening to the shit being churned out by the SKY crew in the immediate aftermath as if it was the most obvious thing in the world  ...."Lovrens touch re-sets play"

Im sorry, what?

What the fuck are you on about?

This was the biggest screw job since Bret ‘the Hitman’ Hart dropped the WWE title to Shawn Michaels in Montreal. Fat Jon Moss and his little publicity seeking lino robbed us of two points. There’s no other way to put it; we got shafted.

It doesn’t matter that Spurs played well enough to have merited a draw, what matters is they only got it because 1) they’re diving bastards and 2) the officials were either incompetent, or something worse.

May as well get the controversy out of the way first, so let’s begin with the first penalty, which came shortly after Spurs had got back to 1-1 and could therefore have proved pivotal in the game.

Kane is offside, or at least that’s what everybody other than Moss and his little sidekick thought. Apparently there has been a rule change that means if the ball deflects off a defender, it doesn’t matter if the forward is miles offside. Firstly, if this indeed the case, how are we not all aware of this pretty fucking massive change in the law? And more to the point, how has there not been a huge outcry over it, because frankly it’s fucking scandalous.

Whichever cunt came up with this change should be in the unemployment line, alongside Fat Jon Moss, the fucking clown. No doubt you’ve all seen the transcript of his conversation with the linesman regarding the first penalty. Moss had no idea whether Lovren did or didn’t get a touch, yet he opted to give the pen anyway.

Now, either he was told by the fourth official in his headset that Lovren touched it, or he just thought ‘fuck it, I’m giving the pen anyway’. Either way, it’s unacceptable. You can’t have selective video replays. Either we’re using VAR or we aren’t. And unless they've quietly slipped this rule in along with the offside changes, we aren't using video assistance for refs, so why the fuck is he asking Martin Atkinson if he saw anything on the TV?

There's so much to dissect from that one incident, but the linesman’s statement that if Lovren touched the ball then Kane can’t be offside really shocked me. He knows the rules better than I do, or at least I’d hope he does, so we have to assume that some soft cunt at FIFA has now decided that goal hanging is an acceptable part of the game and is no longer punishable by offside.

It seems you can be as far offside as you like if the attempted through ball strikes a defender on the way through. Think about that for a second. Think what a fucking monumental change to the game as we know it that is. And yet how many of you knew this was the case? I certainly didn’t. Klopp didn’t either, so at least I'm in good company.

The incredulous look on his face afterwards when he was told about what the linesman said was absolutely priceless. It seems the rule has been changed without anybody being informed, because it’s not just the fans that don’t know. The managers don’t and neither do the players. How the fuck did we get here?

We’ve now reached the stage where a striker can spend the entire game stood near the penalty spot if he wants, and the only time he’d be given offside is if the ball is played directly to him and he goes for it. He can stay there and wait until his team-mates run through and then they can cross it to him as long as he’s behind the ball. Or he can benefit in the way Kane did, by collecting a pass that struck a defender on the way through. It’s a fucking travesty and that rule needs changing back to the way it was.

Then there’s the decision itself. It’s not even a penalty, it’s a dive and it should have been a booking. Karius does not touch Kane. He doesn’t even come close to touching him. What minimal contact there is comes because Kane leaves his leg in there and kicks the keeper on the back to make it look like a foul. One horrible Bruce Forsyth’s bastard faced twat he is.

Moss was conned, so now it should therefore be a three game ban. Won’t happen though. It’s easy for the FA to make an example of an African playing for little old Everton, or a South American at West Ham. England’s golden boy though? Not a fucking chance they do anything to the big chinned slobbering cunt.

Karius saved the penalty so there was no real harm done, but it’s still difficult to accept when you then see the same two officials conspire to give another penalty late on, only this time with a complete role reversal. Moss chose to ignore his linesman when it would have meant not giving a penalty. Then he chose to listen to him when it meant awarding one.

Fishy as fuck that, especially as this is the prick who sent off Mané at City and has since done nothing about similar incidents, including one in this game when a Spurs defender tried to boot Mo in the head.

Then there’s the linesman. He gave that penalty at the end even though the ref was closer and had a better view of it than he did. Who the fuck does that? It's his job to give it if he has a better view and the ref asks for his assistance. It's not his job to put the ref in a terribly awkward situation by refusing to move from his position and insisting it was a pen even when the ref - who was much closer and had a better view - had waved it away.

If he’s so eagle eyed, how come he didn’t spot that Lamela was offside when the ball went to him? Oh wait, Van Dijk got to the flick before he did so I guess that’s not offside either? I say ‘guess’, because that’s exactly what I’m doing. Lamela looks offside to me, but what is and isn’t offside is now so muddied that I have no clue anymore. The cunt then celebrated with a fist pump.

No doubt we got fucked over by Moss. On a different note, Mo: how soon do you think it’ll be before the Spanish ‘press’ start the shit-stirring over Mo? Obviously it’s Real’s turn to fuck us over (although wouldn’t put it past those other shitbags to try it on again), so it’ll be quotes from Zidane, messages on Instagram from Sergio fuck-head Ramos about how Mo would fit in so well in La Liga...blah, blah fucking blah. Seriously though, if Mo continues like this our ability to keep him will define the club....

We've been robbed of 6 points in the League since the middle of December - Calvert-Lewin dive, the Solanke 'handball' - absolutely not intentional, but apparently it 'didn't sit right', now this fiasco.

Dave - where are we at in the 'worst ref in the Premier League' competition? Still Madley for you? This fat cunt and Pawson  gotta be up there.

Can't remember who the special comments turd alongside Tyler was, but he applauded the lino for stepping in on the second pen. The lino that was much further away than the referee - who had a very good view of it, and waved play on.

Grandstanding officials and commentators - bollocks to modern football.

As for this new ball-off-the-defender-not-offside rule, what are we fucking playing now... billiards?

If they let this shit fly the offside rule really does become a farce. Skill goes out of the game and it becomes a lottery. Sides are already camping out on the edge of their box and this will just make it even worse and the game more boring as a result. Fucking suits ruining the game to save face.

Met a couple of the lads from here under the Main Stand at half time and the three of us were moaning about Jon Moss even then.

Let loads of fouls on our lads go and then penalised them when they tried to give a bit back.

You could see how incensed our lads were with him most of the game and we aren't a side that tends to get in the refs face.

Emre gave that linesman all kinds of shit after that pen and then had a go at the ref too. I think he was booked but it didn't deter him and I thought he was going to get sent off.

I posted in the match thread on the MF during the first half Moss would find a way to make it about him.

He was fucking terrible.

Bet the fat cunt is classed as clinically obese by BMI.
