Not a fan of Pardew but at least he isn't as boring tactically as the likes of Pulis, Hodgson, Allardyce et al.

Will be interesting to see what he does with the likes of Megson.

Megson had obviously been watching wildlife documentaries about lions killing off cubs that are not their own when his first move after Pulis was sacked was to ban the other senior coach from the training ground, but they remained ' great mates ' and there was no suggestion of a fallout !!

If I was a young English/British manager doing well in the Championship and looking for a job in the Premiership, I wouldn't be complaining about successful European managers coming over here and taking all the jobs - I'd be complaining about the perpetual merry-go-round of proven sub-class English/British managers who always end up back in a job despite clearly being shite and stuck in the 80s.

Good for Spurs to lose. We have to consolidate our spot in the top four this season and try to kick on. With Man City looking very strong for the title, that means finishing ahead of two of Man Utd, Chelsea, Arsenal and Spurs, with the latter two perhaps being the more likely candidates to better.

It will be between us , Spurs and Arsenal for 4th.

Could do with Arsenal getting bogged down in the Europa

I wonder what Johnathan Wilson's piece will be in the Guardian tomorrow, being mindful of his early November articel about Spurs' defeat of Real Madrid being a warning to all Europe's super clubs. Hmmmm.

Spurs are having a pure Spurs season. They'll be knocked out in the second round or last eight of Europe, they won't win the FA Cup and they'll battle with ourselves and others for fourth place.

It really is a merry-go-round, and the usual suspects get more and more money every time while the same clubs go for the same uninspired choices every time.

Allardyce:

Newcastle, 2007/08 (6 months)

West Ham, 2011/12 - 2014/15 (4 years)

Palace, 2016/17 (6 months)

Everton (?), 2017/18 -

Pulis:

Palace, 2013/14 (9 months)

West Brom, 2014/15 - 2017/18 (2 years, 10 months)

Pardew:

West Ham, 2003/04 - 2006/07 (3 years, 3 months)

Newcastle, 2010/11 - 2014/15 (4 years)

Palace, 2014/15 - 2016/17 (1 year, 11 months)

West Brom, 2017/18 -

They are mercenaries, only they and most of the British media won't see it that way because they're not 'dirty cheating foreigners coming over here and taking our jerbs'. The money's too good in England for them to want to seriously chance their arm in a league where they'll be paid less, be expected to compete for trophies, and have less say in the management of the club.
