It's looking increasingly likely we're going to see a Mammoth/Elephant hybrid in our lifetime.

Bringing back a creature which has been extinct for thousands of years obviously conjures up a range of reactions from "wow that's cool" to "no that's not right"

What say ye GF?

Personally I think it's fantastic that we're at a point in science where this scifi fantasy is becoming a reality.  I think it'd be fascinating to create a creature resembling this ancient giant but deep down I know it's not going to be a true Mammoth so I'm thinking "what's the point?"  There's no way they'd release a shed load of them into the wild so all it's going to be is a zoo attraction so for me it's a no.

As cool as it would be id rather see the money being spent to make sure that animals now do not go the same way.

I would think the science involved in recreating a mammoth, or something like it, could be used to stop other species going extinct. Or at least be used for other useful purposes. I don't think it's scientists doing stuff just for the sake of it.

Bit harsh us bringing back an animal designed to survive in colder temperatures when we've fucked the planet with global warming.

"There ya go son. Now sweat ya bollocks off"

They'd just shear them and make some designer shit for the "Must have" wank brigade. Meanwhile Iceland will have a whole range of frozen mammoth shit.
