The Independent have started a petition calling for a referendum on the final Brexit deal. I signed it about an hour ago and it was at 175,000 signatures. It’s up to 195,000 now.

Yes but don't you work directly for the Eu?

So you signed a petition to save your own job.

This, again?

Did you ever get around to explaining why the problems caused by neoliberalism in the EU mean that the EU's most neoliberal country would be better off leaving?

The Eu's most neo liberal country?

I accept were a right bunch of Tory cunts but check out "the rise of the far right in Europe" thread and look at places like Poland

May's Customs plan rejected. We're either fully staying in or fully going out. I doubt there's a middle ground left.

I still think we'll be offered a form of associate membership of the EU as a last roll of the dice, probably after October. It will be similar to EEA membership with limited control of immigration e.g. automatic preference and visa free access for EU citizens. If May has any sense and she probably won't have as she values her own survival and that of the Tory party over the country she should put it before the house as a free vote. Brexiteer's would be furious and May would be toast but it is a way out.

Failing that a general election or 2nd referendum, both seem unlikely now given that May is under the control of the ERG.

Better start stocking up on cans of beans.

Remember when people who said "The UK economy will be worse off outside the EU" were shouted down with "PROJECT FEAR!!!"

Imagine if Remain campaigners had said "months before we are due to leave, the Government will be preparing to stockpile food and medicine".

What will it take for Leave voters to admit that this is not what they were promised?

May has successfully avoided a show-down with the Loons until after the summer. They are too weak to depose her now anyway and risk having her untouchable for a year if they fail to land a killer blow,  The show rolls onto October when May comes back with a much amended version of Chequers which she will say is the best deal available and dare the house as a whole to vote it down or leave with no deal. If its gets voted down then all bets are off but at that point another public vote seems a strong possibility.  The hard Brexiteers have already lost imo as its almost inconceivable Parliament will let us roll off the cliff without another referendum.

Remember the KFC ‘crisIs’ when they changed logistics provider?

Took them months to sort it out.

Imagine every food based business doing the same, at the same time.

No deal Brexit

There was a few days where the KFC near mine didn’t have anything other than popcorn chicken and chips. They stayed open!

Does it not tell you that there is something amiss here. Rotting fruit but food shortages? No chance.

Do you thing the mighty tesco et al will simply say sorry we have no stock. Not a chance.

They will not sacrifice stock value / investor confidence and roll over.

The shelves will be full.

They may even relish the opportunity to raise prices. Good business finds a way. Economics page 1. Supply and demand.
