You think Yanks would sell if after a year we haven't progressed into the champions league?

When financial fair play turns out to be the red herring everyone here knows it to be......you bet your arse.

They painted themselves into a corner by referring to FFP at every opportunity. When it turns out to be a crock of shit what then? They're a consortium, they won't be up to pumping millions into a lame dinosaur that is LFC under the leadership of a rookie manager with no plan B. Without Europe we are running on empty when it comes to sponsorship. We won't get Warrior level deals if we are still floating in the 6th-7th position at the end of the season. If we end up out of the European places, stadium talk will dry up, Rodgers will talk about going back to the drawing board, it will go deathly quiet on transfers and before you know it Rodgers is out we'll float around rudderless during May/June before being bought for buttons by another consortium as all the best Arabs are taken!

The Times is saying we are after Willian. This seems like another optimistic target but the only other big club being linked with a move for him right now is Spurs. If we can't convince him to come here with Lucas, Coutinho and hopefully Siquiera here then I would be worried.

Tony Barrett reporting we are definitely interested in Willian.

......then Spurs came along and he opted for them.

Tony tweeted:

Liverpool are interested in Willian (who is keen to move to the Prem League). Whether they get him is another matter but they do want him.

Spurs have Sandro and Paulinho.

Spurs can overpay for him, of course, especially if they sale Bale and trump us not for the first time; they would've unlimited resources at their disposal. The Russian club is said to have paid 32 m for the player, but are selling on a cut price. Wonder if that would be within our range. He certainly fits the profile of a Rodger's player; I think it would be a success if we can capture him.

Willian is a ridiculously good player. Better than Mkhtaryan in many ways. Would be interesting to see where we would play him given Rodgers comments about Coutinho being the number 10 because that's where Willian would play

He played wide left for Shakhtar - they were quite a side to watch.
