Botham loves to have little digs about England....like when they just reviewed an LBW. shout and its ....."Trott thinks its out but he's not allowed to say"...in a shitty tone.

Turns out Cook and co are out ...

How is that out?.....sorry but that's a few now in the last few tests....this review system is going down the crapper to use an Aussie phrase...

I'm with you on this...he's always dropping in those snidey remarks. I cant work out what its about. Bitterness about not playing now?

Ha, don't be silly.

He just reckons all decisions about reviewing are made by bowler, Cook, and Prior. Which they are.

What are these 3rd umpires watching?....it's a totally farce decision, is there anyone who thinks that was out and how?

And this kind of stuff gets in people's heads. I know some will disagree (lifey, I'm looking at you) but I want to win fairly

No. I mean he's always making snidey remarks about players and the tactics in general

Agree....it's just shocking and I want to beat the Aussies into the ground but that decision is a form of cheating.

Or is it that the umpires in this series haven't been great, and maybe they see it as undermining them if they go against the on-field umpire?

I would imagine that he finds Flower's influence to be slightly overbearing, and prevents any instinctive decisions to be made by Cook, or Strauss previously. Fuck knows if Cook is a good captain, he possibly doesn't even need to be any more. He probably also thinks we're generally pretty negative, when there is absolutely no need for us to be (as, basically, we're really good). I'd also guess that he finds all the laptop gimps etc to be a bit of a waste of time, and that they take something away from the game. Phrases like "getting drinks on board", and "putting in the right areas", etc, probably also grate. Along with having to work with Hussain and Knight, and having to listen to all their tedious little theories.

Michael Holding holds similar views. As do I, actually.

Beefy gave me a stern telling off once. There used to be Callus Pegasus sponsored one day games at my local club, Jesmond. It was Eng XI vs Rest of the World XI. Me and my brother used to watch the matches on top of headstones in the cemetery behind one end of the ground. Anyway I was perched on top of my headstone but apparently was distracting the batsman. Beefy was bowling and had a right go at me and told me to to one. I was only 12. Don't mess with Beefy.

It's because he's arrogant. He's one of these ex-sportsmen who likes to think he always knows better than everyone else.. Like Eric Bristow

And my story about him doing the 'big I am' with one of my neighbours years ago.....I'm going for the 'arrogant' theory

Although I dont disagree with the comments on Flowers' style
