Would be nice to take a lead into the second leg and then Kenny might give some of the lads a game if we kill off the tie in the first half in the second leg. Therefore a strong team tonight, that and it is the only trophy we can win now. Suarez I understand is suspended, Spearing looks like he didn't travel as he is training with Carroll looking at the pics on the official website. Is Agger fit? Is Gerrard? Is Meireles better? Is Joe Cole alive? I'd like to see, assuming everyone is fit: -----------------------Reina------------------------- ------Carragher--------Skrtel----------Agger--------- Kelly-----------Poulsen---------Lucas---------…

So it turns out the Government has been holding a public consultation into the future governance of English football, presumably due to it being a gigantic fucking mess. They received 80-odd written responses from various groups, one of them being SoS. The link to read it is here (starts on p76) but if you've got a short attention span or don't give two fucks this may not interest you. http://www.publications.parliament.uk/pa/cm201011/cmselect/cmcumeds/writev/792/792we.pdf Anyway, I just wanted to say that whatever you think of the union, I think it's ace that a) we have a supporter's group now who gives a fuck about things that are really important and speaks…

I noticed a bit of a failure thread on the GF, but I thought the question was legit anyway. Whatever happened to the podcasts? Haven't been one for a while, and I used to really enjoy them. Apologise if the subject has been brushed anywhere else.

Do We Need A Settled Formation?
by Guest LFD- 21 replies

Most successful teams know their best team (bar one or two players) and formation. So far under Dalglish we have seen 4-3-3, a few versions of 3-5-2 (3-6-1 vs Chelsea), 4-4-2... maybe even 4-2-3-1?! Now I understand that Dalglish is getting to know the players and is experimenting. Plus injuries and suspensions have also affected his team selections and formations. Do you think after the summer we'll see more of a settled first team and formation? Or could we see lots of tinkering? It is a nice sign that we have been winning using these different styles. However I do feel it would help us in the long term if we could find a system that suits us in mo…

Vbookie: Sparta Prague v Liverpool
by Guest davelfc- 11 replies

Bets to follow STEVEN GERRARD is likely to sit out Liverpool’s Europa League clash with Sparta Prague tomorrow night – but talented teenager Raheem Sterling has been handed a surprise promotion to the first team squad for the trip to the Czech capital. Skipper Gerrard missed Saturday’s 1-1 draw with Wigan due to the groin problem he aggravated in the victory at Chelsea and he’s set to miss Kenny Dalglish’s first European game as Reds boss. The problem isn’t serious but Liverpool will take no risks with the midfielder with bigger tests to follow over the coming weeks. However, schoolboy Sterling will be on today’s flight after his heroics in the 9-0 rout of…

Obviously based on this seasons form and its hard work with only Pepe Reina from Chelsea and LFC making the team but there are no outstanding candidates with the exception of Vidic. So on this season form who would make your team.

Good luck Roy. You were never a Liverpool manager in a million years, but no hard feelings.

Pepe Replacement. 1 2 3 4

Was not going to post this in the FF for obvious reasons. A simple question- Who would you want, Lets talk about actual goalkeepers not whether Pepe would do it to us or not. ( I dont think he will go ) My choice on performance at the mopment would be Craig Gordon, He is 28 but for a GK is not over the hill yet and would get a 4/5 good seasons out of him.

Here he is, trying to get used to life at Chelsea: As a matter of seriousness, his transfer has hardly been mentioned because of other dealings but at £21m he's still a fucking expensive buy. What are our thoughts on him? I've seen him three times, all against us and I think he has been utter rubbish in everyone of them. Yesterday all he did was launch long balls into our box that went out for a goal kick. Is he going to be a steal, or have the Chavs paid over the odds for a clogger?

Dan Roan on twitter has said he has it on good authority that RBS will not re-finance and will take control of the club in the next two weeks. Roan was interviewing Hester today apparently so that's the best authority! Also, talk of a US and Asian bid and the board are due to meet tomorrow, again apparently. (I've used the word 'apparently' alot over these last few months!)

At last a dream come true.... Green Bay Packers cape! Always wanted a sideline cape. I don't care they're 200 US beans (hahaha-- that's aboot 198 CDN$) this cape is going to look awesome as I walk around town. I bet Lombardi and Shankly are having a cold one right now. Maybe they're wearing capes.

Seeing as they're all over twitter, and we've not had any facts that we can stand talking about since Crouchamania stopped running wild, why not add a few of them in here. Andy Carroll does not ask you to repeat yourself, or say "pardon?" He cups his hand to his ear until he hears want he needs to hear.

Will Suarez get his start? Can we make it 5 in a row? Will we do our usual trick and shoot ourselves in the foot and cock it up? Will we deliver a hammering of epic proportions? Will Andy Carroll deliver a hammering to some poor women in the car park for spilling his bovril? Will anyone "smash it"? Answers on a postcard please.

With the addition of maybe a wide player, left back and possibly a centre back we should be competitive with the teams currently showing better than us in the league standings as far as the XI is concerned. However if you look at the current crop of backup players to the 1st team (players 12-22) than you quickly understand where the difference in quality begins to show between Liverpool and the current top 5. For example - see below, have excluded using players in different positions to show lack of quality in squad depth. 1, Brad Jones. 2, Stephen Darby 3, Fabio Aurelio 4, Soti Kyrigiakos 5, Martin Skrtel 6, Jay Spearing 7, Maxi Rodriguez 8, Christain Poul…

Carragher or Agger 1 2
by Guest LFD- 27 replies

We constantly see people saying we need a dominant cente back in the air and I don't disagree with that, since Hyypia has gone we look vulnerable in that area. However we also see people saying how much difference Agger makes to the side when he is in it with his distribution and ability to bring the ball out of defense. Now we have also seen (although not in the last three games), that Carragher is a loss to the side, I don't think we would have conceeded the goals at Newcastle or Blackpool had Jamie been in the side and we misss his leadership. Now if we bring in a new centre back, it means one of Carargher or Agger will not be first choice. Just wonderin…

West Ham have been announced as preferred bidder for the Olympic Stadium. From what I can gather it's going to cost £537m of taxpayers money to build and a further £95m to modify before the dildo merchants move in. Of that £95m West Ham are only having to stump up £20m, with £35m from the Olympic Delivery Authority and a £40m loan from Newham Council. Considering the amount of money the Olympics are costing the whole country with funds re-directed from other projects to pay for it, it's a disgrace that a private company is able to move in for such a small outlay even if they're going to share it with other sports. A proper legacy should not have included giving …

Next Season 1 2

Done my cruciate, sat in hospital last night after ACL reconstruction with no chance of fuckin sleep with all the drunks & loonies around, so I used my thinking time productively to sort out how the owners will go about winning the league next season. Quite easy really. 1st thing to understand is the moneyball concept. It means buying players who have a skillset that the team needs but is missing. It doesn't mean buying the best players for each position, so all the Champ Managers can take a hike because they won't like what is coming. Then it's important to weed out those who we don't need or can replace with better or cheaper. It's quite a long list because …

Doesn't seem to be getting much of a look in at Spurs with the likes of Modric, VdV, Lennon, Bale, Huddlestone etc. ahead of him. Could we prize him away from them for a reasonable fee? He's very experienced but still quite young. He's too good to be languishing on the bench.

have yielded 14 points which is what we should be doing even if the fixtures bar Chelsea have been quite good to Kenny. I think you can dissregard the loss against Blackpool because that was far too soon for Kenny to have any impact, However if you look at the other 6 we have been much better without the football than with it with our two best performances being away against Chelsea and Wolves. However we have struggled to score in our home games and create clear cut chances. Against Fulham we were very lucky and today we were unlucky but as Kenny says you play all the games and see how many points you have at the end of the season. My concerns are tha…
