Need to get Gerrard closer to Torres and get them both playing to their full potential. If that doesn't happen it could be a long hard season.

 

Be interesting to see if a target man comes in. If that happens then Poulsen will probably displace Lucas and pair up with Gerrard in midfield. I'd prefer Gerrard to be closer to Torres supporting, not trying to play balls from deep like tonight.

 

We need Torres to rediscover something like his best form soon or more bad results may follow.

 

Poulsen has a hard act to follow if Mascherano departs.

1. refuses to use aurelio who actually is a left back.

2. is blind to the fact that kelly can defend at RB 10 times better than johnson.

3. went 442 against a midfield 5 pretty much giving up midfield.

4. had us playing deep inviting pressure with his legendary 2 banks of 4.

5. actually thought a combination of lucas and gerrard would be good enough to control the midfield.

we'll have to disagree about that then. carra has only been dodgy since he had johnson on side of him and a different center back pairing the other. he played well for a large part of last season and as someone said was our best player last week and didn't do much wrong tonight (most of our problems were the insane positions jovanovic kept taking up, then fucking agger up). if our problems were all carra sized problems we'd be fine.

1. Agree - sounds like common sense to me. A left back at left back ? Why not eh ?!

There's no way I'd suggest that, and to a certain extent I'd agree that Benitez' ridiculous "rotation" did Carragher no favours at all last year. Mind you that goes for Johnson, Agger, and even Insua too.
