Ok'ish first half. Maxi by far our best player. Insua doing well too. Torres and Benayoun in particular need to make better use of the ball. Gerrard and Lucas with a couple of sloppy passes/misses, need to cut that out. Carra and the Greek seem to be in control of Jerome. Hope Johnson can create something out wide, and let's see a few more men in the box then please!

It's very difficult when the home team persists with playing 8 men behind the ball and attempting to launch it up the field whenever it falls to them. It's here that our lack of pace is most exposed.

 

That's no excuse at all really. As it's the same thing for any top side that goes away from home. We could maybe start by at least trying to play in Birmingham's half by pressing them well inside their side of the pitch.

 

But if Rafa's insists on the team dropping deep and showing Birmingham too much respect, then why not play someone like Babel with a bit of pace who might be able to then hurt them on a quick counter?

 

Anyway, get on, well done Stevie!!
