He's Stephen's dad. He was a masseus, then got switched to kit man.

I thought Stephen Wright's dad was a bitter blue twat and that's one fo the reasons Stephen left the club???

Just what the fuck IS going on? Is Rafa just gonna bring in a load of arse lickers, and yes men?

Has anybody given a reason why these people had their contracts terminated, other than the insinuations that "Rafa is a very nasty man"? Were they sacked, made redundant or were their contracts allowed to expire? If they were sacked, wouldn't they have had to do something that constitutes gross misconduct? I am naive in this area, so go easy on me.

They'd have to be given their full notice or they'd be able to claim wrongful dismissal. They'd also have unfair dismissal claims unless the club could show that it had a significant reason for dismissal, one of which being corporate restructuring...

Even though LFC's administrative staff costs in absolute terms are lower than any of the top four clubs, they are higher than any of them as a percentage of income. Therefore it makes good sense to bring staff costs into line with other clubs.

I do not know if this is the reason for some of the "sackings", but it could be. If it is it would be an administrative decision authorised by the BoD following an analysis of the annual accounts.

Would that constitute a redundancy rather than a sacking and would the employment of another kitperson/shoe shiner/masseuse eliminate that defence?

Yeah, it's difficult. There's a number of reasons you can do it, but assuming there's no conduct issues and they're not going to try and claim they're completely incapable, the two they could use is redundancy or another "substantial reason" e.g. streamlining.

But yeah, for both of them it's difficult to see how they could directly replace these people without getting themselves in trouble. Which makes me think they won't be directly replacing them.

EDIT: Unless they're on fixed term contracts which are all expiring, but I can't imagine them all happening at exactly the same time...

TBH Would all contracts not be season to season based. I wouldn't be surprised.

On the replacement front, TBH, I've seen it done a number of times, yes, in the US, but TBH I can't see it being very different in the UK. If there is genuine over staffing job responsibilities are just combined and new people hired. If not then management will just take three different jobs and mix up the responsibilities to create three "different" jobs i.e. the Kit Man will become the Kit and Equipment engineer doing the same job, except now he'll be responsible for shining the bollards as well.

Trust me if a company decides they want rid, they'll find a way to do it.

He plays in the over the hill sunday footy with a load of arl scousers my family have known for years and another arl grout I know from the gym; he used to pass on a shitload of info and upcoming signings; all of it really.

Whether that has anything to do with it.

He generally worked for the first team across anything they wanted/needed.

Employment laws are very different, USA is very much hire and fire. I've seen people come into work at 9am and be escorted out by security by 10am...professional staff too. I don't know if they're scared of employee's going postal or something else but it was pretty shocking to see the first time I did.

Why would someone be sacked after an hour?

I wasn't referring someone being sacked but made redundant/laid off.

All are players may end up walking about the place like fucking meffs if we botch this up. I'm furious about this show of petulance from the megalomaniac that's running our club.

Well if they need a kit man to stop them walking around like meffs then we've probably got a lot more to worry about than some people losing their jobs. And yeah, he's definitely a megalomaniac, it's obvious seeing as all of us here know the reason(s) the guy actually lost his job.

Seriously, wtf?

Did I jinx us with my user title?

Things have to get less bizarre soon, surely. It might actually be time to change my custom user title.

I could be wrong but I'm guessing he was fishing and you took the bait quite nicely.

Bastards. Well I should really go to bed then and neg him before I go. Aw fuck it, my own fault if I'm too tired to notice that. If he comes back later saying he's serious I'll probably piss myself when I get up and read it.

I'd imagine the player liason and reserve team kit man would certainly come within player operations, wouldn't you? It may not be that they had to go - but it's the way you go about it.

Possibly, depending on the decision making process - if it was disciplinary, breach of confidence, improper conduct or a myriad of other such things it's hard to say, not to mention corporate restructuring to which Rafa may have agreed, but not made the decision.

FWIW someone I know who works at the club and is an occasional visitor here has told me many teams he thinks the non-playing payroll is hugely overstaffed.

But what does Rafa know about non coaching related structures of a football club? This is a great way to go about making enemies at the club and the wider community. He should be told to concentrate on coaching the players, picking the team and recommending players to be sold/purchased. We need a fucking CEO and fast.

You and everyone else on here, know fuck all about managing a football team, but that doesn't stop you from telling us constantly that the manager is making a mistake by selling this or that player.

Considering that Rafa has worked in football his entire adult life, I'd say he knows more than the people who've run the club for the last 20 years.
