  1. I really couldn’t care less what peoples opinions are of other people on the internet mate, never met the guy. Your use of his avatar to infer that he might be mentally unstable was ridiculous though.
  2. So an avatar isn’t a good way to judge character?!
  3. Is a Patrick Bateman avatar enough for somebody to be considered dangerous nowadays? We all know it’s a fictional character, right? Unlike say, Osama bin Laden, or the Taliban.
  4. Correct. As an aside, I believe he left Valencia because he fell out with Emery.
  5. Not sure this one’s a reliable source.
  6. We all would. But what we have now, minus what we experienced with Hodgson, might have left us with a very real chance of champions league football next year, and without the upcoming headaches of scraping Poulsen, Konchesky and Joe Cole off the wage bill. I’d certainly take that.
  7. If you’re overseeing a club that’s strapped for cash and has no manager in place, you don’t sign a player with a lot of question marks hanging over him on a +100k/week contract for 4 years. If Purslow was worried that the club would miss out on potential targets he shouldn’t have sacked a manager without having a new manager lined up, or at least an inkling of who he was going to appoint. Nor do you handicap future managers by shipping out players on year-long loan deals because you don’t like the look of them.
  8. Certainly not by me. I see you as the Mandela of this Liverpool forum, just waiting to lead us into the light of… Purslow and Hodgson?
  9. It’s odd that you’re so consistently accused of being unbalanced.
  10. As night follows day. Do you want to talk about RAFA BENITEZ by any chance?
  11. I didn’t lay all the blame at their door though, did I? I know you’re Purslow’s number one fan and had a brief Hodgson fling but you can stand down on that one. Torres is not the only one to blame. The previous owners, Purslow, Hodgson, and even the new owners have all contributed to Torres wanting to go. His timing is absolutely appalling but this has not all come from Torres simply waking up one day and deciding that he doesn’t like Liverpool anymore. A large number of factors have contributed to us getting to this point and to pretend otherwise is just foolish.
  12. Is there not a middle option of 'keep him until the summer when we have a chance to replace him'?
  13. That’s a massively simplistic view of the situation, even from you. This hasn’t just arrived out of nowhere, it’s been building for a year and more.
  14. I think his false promises were probably more to blame than the buy-out clause. Still, ridiculous timing from Torres. Edit: And the appointment of Hodgson, of course.
  15. Going to man marking hasn’t done us any favours. It definitely hasn’t done Skrtel any favours, given that under man marking he just gets obsessed with his man and completely forgets where the ball’s going. I think this is the main reason he’s consistently got caught under the ball this season. Apart from the fact that he’s not very good.
  16. It’d make more sense to just buy a left back who’s good enough for the long term rather than collecting another average one.
  17. Clearly Benitez, to claim that Houllier left a decent squad is completely revisionist. The fact that Benitez got that squad to overachieve to the extent he did demonstrates what a good job he did in that first season. The squad we have now is nowhere near as bad as it currently looks, but they are massively underachieving at present. It needs a feat of management to turn it around again.
  18. I don’t think they’ve played the situation particularly well, we’ve stuck with Roy for maybe a couple of weeks longer than we should have done and have paid the price in results, and now everybody knows he’s a lame duck going into a match against our biggest rivals. Having said that, nobody’s going to care as long as they get the new appointment right.
  19. I think it has contributed in its own way. He’s extremely “English” in his outlook, one that he shares with all the big players at the LMA. If reports are accurate he was holding out for the England job even before arriving at the club, and since his arrival he’s very much treated it as “just another job” that he can discuss with his LMA colleagues at their meetings. He’s almost portrayed himself as “above” it all, including rivalries with other clubs (especially his mate’s), the fans, and the history of the club. Since Shankly, however, Liverpool fans won’t accept being treated as “just another club”, we believe we and the club are special and we want our manager to act in a way that reflects that. It all sounds insignificant and arrogant when you put it down in words but it’s no different to how other big clubs like Barcelona, Real Madrid, Milan, Inter, Manchester United etc would expect their manager to behave. Ferguson may be a big player in the LMA but it’s simply because he can use it and his “friendships” with other managers to get what is best for his club. He’s the leader of the little club and you know he’d drop them all like stones if it suited him. Sadly, our manager is a follower and consequently won’t step out of line against Ferguson. That’s fine for a club like Fulham, or Sunderland, or Blackburn, or Stoke, but it’s not enough for a club like Liverpool that actually has ambitions of knocking Ferguson off his perch.
  20. [quote name=Iantn;2606778 The thing is though regarding Ferguson' date=' Hodgson has made a rod for his own back with all his previous comments whilst our manager. It's that simple really.[/quote] Correct. People weren’t bothered when previous managers did it because you knew if it came down to it that defending the club was their primary concern, regardless of what Ferguson & co had to say. You couldn’t say the same for Hodgson, which is why people are reacting badly to a fairly innocuous photo.
  21. We really don’t. Johnson has all the attributes to be an excellent attacking right-back. He has weaknesses defensively, but so do all attacking right backs, including the best in the world: see Maicon against Bale. The difference is how their teams use them, encourage and expect them to attack and ensure that when they do somebody covers.
  22. This stat makes all subsequent debate irrelevant. A better manager and the defence wouldn’t look anywhere near as weak as it has. We do need to replace Carragher and correct the mistake that is Paul Konchesky soon though.
  23. Nothing to do with Tomkins, he just retweeted it.
  24. The contract was made between Hodgson and the club, not the previous owners. When FSG bought the club they took control of all of its assets and liabilities, including his contract. If he gets sacked he gets a payoff. Broughton suggested that the amount he’ll get was specified in the contract itself.
